Those that live in the Phoenix az area what time do you fly to beat the heat and thermos for pleasure flying? I'm thinking my flights we be as early as 6am

Here in the central plains of the Texas desert, I prefer to drive up to the airport as soon as I can wake up, preflight the airplane with some daylight and take off before the sun rays break over the horizon.
Or the evening is a good choice as well but it is usually hotter.
One advantage of flying in the evening over morning is the cloud deck is usually higher or gone (IF there was one in the morning).

If you fly friends/family for pleasure and sightseeing, they might prefer evening over getting their butt out of bed at 5am. :)

Now go fly and have fun!!

I taxied up to the FBO in Phoenix one morning at 3am and saw the sign.... "Welcome to Phoenix....the wind chill is 109...." :yikes:

If the mission dictates a late afternoon departure - you're going to be sweating, that's for sure.
