Well... my cheap self finally pulled the trigger on a phone with 5G capability which means I can now start doing the podcast youtube thingy on downtime.

Any recommendations on some youtube and podcast channels that are good for remediation and reinforcement to help keep one sharp?

I like angleofattack.com out of Homer Alaska…seems like a nice guy who wants to teach GA…has YouTube and Instagram channels…

I like Martin Pauly, Flightchops, Pilot Bambi, Stevie Triesenberg (doesn't post very often), Ward Carroll (although he's not GA)

YouTube: Flywire with Scott Purdue, Aviation News Talk (also a great podcast), Air Safety Institute, Backcountry 182, Boldmethod, although they haven’t posted in a long time, still a ton of great videos. Many more. Just search in YouTube and you’ll find a ton.

Podcasts: Opposing Bases, Aviation News Talk, AOPA Pilot Briefing and There I Was, Ask the A&Ps, Airplane Geeks, Behind the Prop, Hangar Talk, Airplane Owner Maintenance…again, the list goes on.

The finer points is both a podcast and a YouTube channel.

Will put another plug in for Opposing Bases.... If you're after an in-depth understanding of the workings of ATC, these guys do a great job breaking it down.

Late to the party, but I’ll plug a few.

YouTube: Just Plane Silly for some good satire, Taking Off, Aviation101, finer points

Podcasts: pilot to pilot, aviatorcast, I.LA.F.F.T, Sportys Pilot Discretion. And I would be reminded to not mention my own…The Flying Midwest Podcast, and Fly the Transition Podcast.

Happy listening.

I find much of the popular YouTube stuff to end up being a teaser, sensational titles and little meat. Also, I find the sales pitches for other products a little heavy. But no aviation company has ever given me free stuff for product placement so perhaps I’m just envious. One guy online “built” and flies a rv, following the build was interesting as he seemed to have a totally unrealistic amount of help doing the work for him, made it tough to learn.

current tv-ice pilots
Current podcast-fight pilot

utube I’ve enjoyed trying to learn while training
Lew dix
Jason schapert

I enjoy scenery or location flying such as missionary bush pilot

I dream of my own satirical utube channel.

if you’ve enjoyed the commentary and want more like it, help me out by hitting the like button below…

If you like classic rock and dream of the single engine turboprop lifestyle, then check out Life in the FL.

The guy is a surgeon and drummer in a very successful Eagles tribute band. He produces excellent videos with most of the emphasis on the weather briefing and flight planning. His production skills are almost to the level of SoCal Flying Monkey.

If you're into the backcountry flying side of things Gravity Knight has some excellent videography and unlike Trent Palmer and some others, he focuses on the flying and locations and not his lifestyle or girlfriend.

The only thing that I think has been done well at AOPA (well, the ASI, actually) is Dick McSpadden's accident reviews. Intelligent, interesting, and non-sensational.

I really like how he addresses them. I sort of feel like it is a direct response to the sensational ones out there. I hope it is anyway.
He does abbreviated versions on TikTok as well and they are very insightful.

I just joined but have gotten big into using podcasts and watching YouTube. For Podcast - The Finer Points / Jason Miller, AOPA Never Again, Pilot's Discretion, I Learned About Flying From That, Pilot to Pilot. On the YouTube side, The Finer Points offers great training, CitationMax is very polite and great at communications plus who does not like to live vicariously through others. Martin Pauly, great procedure, good explanations, and his training interviews are well done. His Lean of Peak training is great, SoCal Flying Monkey has great production value and good story, Fly With Owen, Malibu Flyer, FlightChops has a wide variety, including his RV-14 and Atlantic crossing. Trevor Moody is very good on procedures and good video, FlyByGarret to watch some PC-12 flights, snd Schmiiindy.

I may know of a podcast being re-launched in the very near future with a member of this forum as the first guest.

Fly the Transition had 7 episodes published early in ‘23, but is looking to make a big comeback in ‘24.

I agree that pilot to pilot and ILAFT are really good too.

Since you’re “new” to YouTube, might as well throw MZeroA, Trent Palmer, Aviation 101, and Flight Chops in there. I subscribed to them when I was first fresh to YT and enjoyed the content. Check ‘em out and make up your own mind.

Don't forget Dan Gryder or Jerry Wagner! :mad2: :cryin:

In all seriousness, The VASI Aviation guys are great at illustrating pilot/ATC gaffs and accident flight paths.

There is this Wolf Pilot guy who flys with this insanely handsome German Shepherd...
