Final Approach
Starting to look at 180’s for my son in law. He wants one on floats with wheel gear and lots of power. In fact if he decides on the floats being permanent a 182 might do.
I remember a friend from POA about 12 years ago who let me fly his 180 with a 470 + 50. Wayne Bower was his name. Haven’t seen him in a very long time. Hope he’s doing well.
Is the 470 + 50 the best power solution or are there any repower STC solutions that would be noticeably more powerful than that doubling the budget?
Would buying a plane with a run out 470 to build the + 50 from be a reasonable solution? There would be a budget for the project although it is not a bottomless barrel of money.
