I've seen quite a few people who debate which is the best fast food burger. In N Out has my vote hands down. Thought I would ask you all.

Those two burgers are about equal, although 5 Guys fries are wonderful and better then InOuts, plus free roasted peanuts to munch on while waiting for you order, so 5 Guys gets my vote... out of these two.

Lived in SD for a couple of years but never went to In N Out. Heard all the advertisements but thought it was like a Sonic or something. Boy was I wrong. Went back to Cali a few years back to visit a friend and he took me to one. Could barely find a seat it was so crowded. Don't remember what burger I ordered but yes, it was the best fast food burger I've ever had. Never been to 5 Guys.

Thats true, i will say the fries at Five Guys are probably better, but I do like how you can see the potatoes being cut and fried at In N Out so you know they are fresh

I felt the same way, first time I had In N Out i knew it was the best ff burger I have had. Just got back from Vegas last week and the main In N Out there is so crowded you cant find a seat. The burgers are the best!

In-n-Out in CA is far better than Whataburger in TX.

Visiting In-n-Out is an experience. The customers are excited, the counter worker is excited, and I am excited.

I've never seen anyone excited about Whataburger.

5 Guys, it's good, but no particular excitement.

I kinda put Five Guys, Habit Burger and those counter service places in a slightly different category than "Fast Food". To me there is a distinction between Quick Serve establishment and Fast Food joints.

In that Fast Food category In N Out hands down for me. It is the only Fast Food burger I can stomach.
In the Quick Serve Category I have been a fan of Smash Burger.

My order:

1. In N Out
2. 5 Guys
3. Habit
4. Fatburger

That said, McDonald's has the best fries hands down. In N Out's fries are the worst, unfortunately. But the burgers make up for it.

Wish we had more than just Whataburger, McD's, and JIB.

The best burgers in this town 11R are actually at the airport and a little family place called Dairy Bar.

Try Burton short stop next time you are in that area.. Mama's Kitchen has a burger so fat you will laugh when they bring it to the table.
I also hear the store near Rocky Creek at the lake has awesome burgers...

I lived in CA for 5 years. In N Out is okay, but nothing special and not worth the ridiculous wait.

I'll take a Whataburger over In N Out any day.

How can you not have CookOut on the list????

It's the reason I continued learning to fly. Before they built one in my town, I had to fly to Bristol TN to get my fix.

I have always loved Whataburger, and a good Whataburger is a real treat. In addition, Whataburger has a much broader array of options for preparing your burger. When I lived in SoCal, always missed Whataburger (the nearest one was in Arizona then - don't know about now).

All that said, since In-n-Out has opened here in Dallas, it has become my one and only fast food option. First off, their stores are always clean as a whistle, their service snappy and friendly - they treat their people well, and the folks return the favor in their service and attitude. Only fresh meat and fresh-cut fries (I love love love In-n-Out fries). They do what they do and do it well.

I still like me a Whataburger with cheese, add jalapenos and bacon, though.

We are having on built in our town now. Never heard of them, but they have good burgers huh??

Denton Independent Hamburger... before it closed.

I'm surprised that so far nobody's mentioned Shake Shack.

But between In-N-Out and 5Guys, I vote In-N-Out. There's something about the 5Guys buns that turns me off. It just seems doughy and underdone to me.

Problem is In and Out is only in a small part of the country. I believe Five Guys covers more real estate.

There are 19 ingredients in McD's fries:
Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Canola Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Natural Beef Flavor [Wheat and Milk Derivatives]*, Citric Acid [Preservative]), Dextrose, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (Maintain Color), Salt. Prepared in Vegetable Oil: Canola Oil, Corn Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil with TBHQ and Citric Acid added to preserve freshness. Dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent.
CONTAINS: WHEAT AND MILK.
There are only 3 ingredients in In-N-Out fries:
potatoes, salt and cottonseed oil

However, the main problem with In-N-Out is that in their quest for freshness, they don't double fry. Double frying is crucial for making great fries.

Mike, did they close the University Drive location too?

I've been to In-N-Out twice and both time it tasted like I was chewing on a salt lick.....yuckkk....

Outlaw in Justin is decent, but I prefer Fuddruckers.

The best burgers in Cape Girardeau are at the airport too. Ask @ARFlyer how big a double is!

I'll give them a try!

Here in San Antonio: In-Out burger, Five guys, Red Robin, Sonic, Burger King, MCD, then Whatta-burger.

I'm not much of a Whatta-Burger guy. Now that I think about it, I'm not much of a burger guy in general.

Yes they do. Cheap too. Lots of choices too. Grilled chicken, corn dogs etc My kids like the milkshakes. I could go on and on

This poll is biased towards the west coast. No vote here as I have no access to the choices listed.

Alright alright! The best burger ever is.... the one you like! :raspberry::raspberry::raspberry:

In N Out is west coast, Five Guys is typically an east coast deal.

Not sure where the closest "Five" would be here in Ohio then. Never have had either. Sooooooo......Rally's maybe? LOL

Are you allowed to change the poll? I do not think you are the OP. LOL

If ya noticed no one is abiding by the poll anyway, as is POA usual. Supposed to be about two burger chains but no one in the eastern half of the country has In&Out establishments or experienced eating one. Man wouldn't you just love to get a franchise for one in the east?

I think everyone agrees that the "best" hamburger is usually a mom and pop type place. Hamburger King in Montgomery Al. Has the best hamburger and it isn't even close. That's all they do, 11-2 M-F, i mean, that's all they do. There is no menu, ordering consists of a number, how many? Between the two poll choices, Five Guys.

I'm surprised that so far nobody's mentioned Shake Shack.

I can't believe it took 23 post before Shake Shack was mentioned, and it has not been mentioned again. There is no question that Shake Shack is the BEST "fast food" burger available.

There's a hamburger king in Shawnee ok but there's a menu and you use a phone at your table to order. Apparently it was on some magazine as the best burgers in Oklahoma and the day that issue came out there were like 5 aircraft that flew in just to go eat there.
