My cousin has been flying for over 20 years VFR SEL. When Basic Med became available he switched to it. He is currently in the hospital with 3 aneurysms; both legs and stomach. He is a good candidate to have stints put in as out patient surgery and avoiding slice and dice surgery. Since he is on Basic Med does he lose his medical and have to apply for a special issuance or is Basic Med flexible enough once his Doctor feels he can resume normal activities is he back in the air?
