I read Landsberg's ASF blog entry.

I didn't bother to go to local news site as they are notoriously inaccurate and often just plain stupid, as evidenced by this "journalist's" attempt to round out the story.
 
A witness quoted by a local TV station:
Part of a golf course separates her house from the crash site, Herren said, and on a clear day she would be able to see it. "Because it was so foggy, I couldn't see any smoke plumes," she said.
Here are the METARs from Astoria, Oregon, just 8 NM northwest. There are hills 300-500 feet high northeast through southeast of the airport. The accident was at 1348Z.
