I used cloud ahoy for flight logging and I use ForeFlight for navigation. Both worked just fine with the BadElf. The main reason I changed is it was fairly easy to knock the BadElf out of the iPad while handling it. If you have a mount (kneeboard or suction cup or whatever) it's fine. I was using mine in a Belkin case with a bluetooth keyboard and the BadElf didn't fit well. The DUAL bluetooth version should work well for that.

With the BE plugged in is there no way to also charge the iPad?
 
Yes you can charge it. It comes with a 3 foot usb charger cord. you get a cigeterrt lighter charger with usb on it and plug it in. Bad eld also sells a optional 6ft cord for $5.00.
 
I use the Bad Elf Plug in exclusively. To be honest the Bluetooth models do seem Gucci, but with a 4 foot extension cord it works great. However, not having to recharge the unit is a good back up to the others. $60 is a good deal.
 
It is in fact a plugin BadElf GPS with the charging cable allowing you to power the iPad with the GPS attached. PM me if interested.
