AVIATION GROUND POWER 28V

I'm considering a ground power supply for my new Tecnam P2010 (take possession in Nov). The plane is 28 volt system, with external alternator rated at 70 Amps @ 2700 rpm. The plane also comes with an external power socket on the side. I'm interested in the 35 Amp 28 Volt Aviation GPU with BatteryMINDer Model 2835A-B2. It also comes in a 70 Amp version. Since the intended use is to simply provide power when doing G1000 updates and training, and maybe during some of the pre-flight inspection, am I correct the 35 Amp is sufficient for this plane???

Either the 35 or 70 Amp can be purchased with or without the "BatteryMINDer" and I was considering buying that feature just in case there is prolonged hanger time... Your thoughts???

For your stated use, yes. And if you want to save a few bucks you could buy a separate power supply like a Start Pac Mini and a standalone BatteryMinder instead of an all-in-one.

That looks to be a nice unit for 1300 bucks. I know nothing about it though.

I bought this about 4 years ago from Spruce for about 600 at the time. IMO yes 35 amps is enough. This picture is right after I left the plane on the ramp with the under wing lights on for a hour or so. I bring the plane in and plug it in. It draws 20 amps or so for few minutes and then it will go down to less than 5 amps in about 5 minutes. It does charge the battery some even though it is a ground power supply not a charger on a cessna 1772. One of the best investments I have made for my plane.

It is used as ground power supply for my cessna, but it does charge the battery when on.
I keep it on my power/oil cart. I have other battery chargers on the same cart for my tug, 12volt car and a battery minder for my 28 volt plane.
I fly the plane 4-5 days a weeks so it stays charged just fine on it's own. But when I take the cowl off over night I attach the battery minder and let it run for a day or two.

I have about $850-900 bucks into the GPU and the battery minder.
When I have everything on except pitot heat including the panel it is drawing under 10 amps

It is always at my plane side.

Oil change and exhaust system lube.

28v, 35a is a stunning total of 980 watts. That’s nearly a kilowatt. Ummm, yeah. It’s enough by quite a large measure even for full-glass displays.
