I need to get serious.
Where I work, I have been given the task of coming up with ID badges. We use the Avery software to make our business cards, and I noticed that they have a template for ID badges. I priced them out, and a box of blank ID cards costs around a hundred dollars for 500. I don't need 500, I only need ten or twelve. Does anyone use these, and if so, would you sell me ten or twelve of them?

Heck, take the extras and make TSA badges for your home airport. Charge $50 apiece for them.

Of course to make "approved" TSA Airport badges you first need to submit form DHS-957A "Request for ID Badges", and attach Form TS-245 "ID Badge Format". Once it's received and reviewed (about 6 months) then you will be issued Form DHS-1299D "Material for ID Cards", fill out all 20 pages then attach DHS-1344G(A-1) "Traceability for Supplies" along with your TSA "Approved Data" for type of paper and plastic to be used. Submit this along with a TSA Form TS-1289(G)(K)(A1), make sure to complete all 30 pages in triplicate and in about another 6 months you should have your TSA Form 1896(A) "Approval to Print ID Cards".

Then you make 10 cards and submit each with a copy of your TSA Form 1896(A) (one copy for each card) along with a DHS-3594B(1G) for final approval and acceptance, which should take no more than 6 months.

And by the way, NO Airport Access will be granted until ID cards are issued. Thank you for your cooperation.

Documents will be submitted in person, identified by a federally-issued identification, to the appropriate TSA representative between the hours of 10:00am and 10:45am alternate Mondays. Be aware that mailed submissions will be forwarded to DHS headquarters for screening, analysis, and destruction. Furthermore, only certified, "MADE IN USA" paper and office products may be used for submission, including but not limited to paper (bond or plain), staples (including chisel point), binder clips (not to exceed 3/4") and envelopes (manilla only).

I'm not making them for use at the airport. I am making them for the Center for Creative Justice, which is a non-profit organization. So I was hoping to come up with something and save them a little money. There might be other ways of doing them, it is just that the Avery stuff is nice, and they look professional, so I thought that I would try that route first.

You forgot. The new procedure for vendor bids now that no-bid contracts have been banned will be released 3rd quarter 2010.
