I’m looking for recommendations on where to get my vacuum-driven attitude indicator overhauled.
In the last 4 flights, it did the death dance twice, showed a constant descending left turn through one flight, and worked on another flight. Those odds are pretty bad, so I’m going to get it overhauled. The HSI has worked just fine, so I believe the AI is the problem here.
It is a 5000L-8 manufactured by EDO-AIRE. It has some autopilot drive circuitry. It’s plumbed for filtered air inlet, suction, and a gage.
It has a sticker showing it has been worked on by TGH Aviation, at least recently enough that their web address is on the sticker. I don’t know if that is a good shop as far as turnaround time, pricing, and of course quality of work. Anyone have a PIREP on TGH or any other gyro shop?
