The RMK contains a reference to two privately owned FBOs to contact for PPR for overnight parking. The ramp is owned by the airport. Rather weird to hear for the first time. Anyone ever hear anything like this before?

I could understand if this liason between aprt owner and FBO exists as a courtesy to pilots landing when tower is closed but the RMK does not indicate that. Besides, in the past, an aprt worker would afix a mail-in paper fee slip to the airplane.

That's odd. It's a very wordy ATIS anyways.

But this is scary. It's a public use airport. It sounds like there's basically no public parking...

Same story at Addison. The town demolished the airport's operations building (which included a Customs Service office), and essentially donated the land to Frito-Lay to build their hangar, and the public ramp which was behind it has been closed off.

No public parking.

This was about the same time that they did away with the self-service fuel, too.

Sometimes there is no private parking either at various airports, especially during busy periods like the holidays.

You should see SBP during graduation. Cal Poly-SLO is always in the top 5 for Aeronautics, Architecture, and Const Mgmt. The aprt ramp is clogged with fast movers parked 3 deep.

My calls to the county (aprt owner) have gone unanswered. I never had a problem getting parking but now I wonder what's up since Felix mentioned lack of public parking.

According to an owner at one of the FBOs, all overnight tie-downs are now confined to the west side. Construction of the new terminal has deleted all previously existing tie-downs on the east side. Since most facilities are on the east side, the twr will arrange with the FBOs to bring the pilot and pax from the west side tie-downs, across the 11/29 rwy, to the east side.

I had forgotten the scope of the project for the new terminal. The new commercial terminal will occupy the old public ramp. The backstory on that is the county had spent years finalizing the project and recently gotten the funding together to break ground. Soon after breaking ground several regionals announced they would no longer serve this aprt. That compunded the effects of an already sour economy. There is no telling when the project will be completed. There is already talk the new terminal is not needed. It's a veritable love story.

My unanswered question concerns the pilot who arrives/departs after hours. This new condition only exacerbates a problem which has existed since several years after 9/11. I recall several times arriving late at night or departing before 0600. Now such a pilot would have to hot foot across the rwy too?
