Anyone use prepware/ASA to get their written sign-off?

I'm not seeing how to do it on their web site, it just says, submit 2 tests at 80% or better to get your sign-off.

Beats me, but you can always just show your practice test scores to your CFI and let him endorse your logbook. That's what I did, using Sporty's Study Buddy.

80% sounds marginal. I've read reports of several people scoring 12 to 15 points lower on the real test than on their practice tests. >85% would be safer.

Call 1-800-asa2fly and ask for Brian.

Yea, 80 is just their requirement for sign off. Turns out it is an automated email button that shows up on the progress screen, got the sign off via email shortly after. The button just says email, so it isn't obvious what it is for till after you click it.

Nearly sounds like "Texas Aggie, Round Room, Pee In Corner" sorta button.

You shoulda used Gold Seal. The Endorsement is automatically generated as a signed PDF. No phone calls necessary.

ASA/prepware did this as well, their instructions just aren't very clear. Their button should be labeled 'submit results for endorsement' instead of just: Email

I saw that button and was thinking it was just in case you wanted to send to yourself for review later or send to a cfi or whatever. I would recommend the ASA Test Prep book for those who have already done 100% self study, it was just $16 and includes the supplement booklet and online endorsement.

CFI had already told me to meet up with him and he'd give me my sign off, just hadn't synced up with him and I needed to take the practice tests anyway. Got in the 90's on both, got my endorsement online. We'll see if i get the typical 15 point drop.

I sign guys off who can regularly average over 80%, never had anyone ever fail a written on me.

Could always just ask your CFI, bring him some printouts of some recent practice tests and I'd wager you a beer he'll put some ink in your log book no big deal.

Welp, I made a 92. I am almost positive they counted one wrong that I got right. I remember getting it wrong on the practice test and figuring out why. It was the one with the VOR to/from lights out, 30 on the dial and a left deflection. Puts you on the perpendicular radial to the southeast, I selected southeast and got it wrong. Oh well, I'll take a 92.

They threw me a curve-ball by giving me a supplement book that didn't match the test which I tried to use for 90% of the test. That added about 30 min. of review once I got the right book.

And apparently I'm in trouble if I run into an airship while towing an airplane, haha.

Congrats on the great score there, surfer. Regarding the testing supplement book, did they accidentally give you the new one? That one isn't supposed to be used before the 13th.

I'm not sure, I think they gave me an older one, but the figures the test was referring to matched the supplement book that came with my 2016 ASA study book marked: FAA-CT-8080-2F

Thanks. They may have given you the new one 8080-2G. The test isn't supposed to change until Monday. 2F is the correct one for now.

I got that one wrong too (2 weeks ago). I tried explaining it to my CFI and couldn't figure it out.

They really should make that part of the setup, when you verify your taking the right test and SSN, etc, verify the supplement booklet number. Twas a bit confusing,. Figure x is actually figure x-1. I noticed some obstacle height inconsistencies as well, airspace changes. Before I figured it out I wasted a couple minutes looking for a town that wasn't on the map, ha

Maybe you got it right, if you put SE, and there is a flaw? The review missed is pretty worthless, they don't show the complete question or the answer options or the one you chose.

You never know... The Metlife blimp randomly showed up while I was towing gliders one day. I couldn't figure out why some pilot kept using the callsign "Snoopy" and was taking forever to get to the airport. I was getting annoyed because I thought someone was joking around on the frequency while I was trying keep track of all the traffic in the area. It made sense once it finally got near enough to see. Cool to see a blimp up close. They did a go around and it was pretty epic. They pitch waaaaay up.

Appropriate chain at ASA has been pulled...changes to make the action more transparent are in the works.

The CATS software does that. Before starting the test, there's a screen for you to confirm that you have the correct supplement number.
Not sure if Lasergrade (or whatever they are called now) does that too.
