I wouldn’t say your diesel price is absurdly high, it seems pretty typical from what I’ve seen across the Midwest. Your premium gasoline on the other hand, seems absurdly low.
Most of that has to do with taxes and proximity to refineries. Diesel being absurdly high in reference to the premium gasoline datum, not in comparison to price in the rest of the Midwest. Diesel takes less refinement than gasoline, but has about 1/3 the volume demand as gasoline.
