Is there a place to do that on the FAA.Gov web page ?
I called them for mine 14 years ago.....
I do "think" there is a place on the website to reserve one now though..
I already have it reserved, but how do you get the FAA to apply it to your aircraft?
Got that too, it has Canadian C-letters on it.It takes a bill of sale for the transaction to get blessed...
Call the civil aircraft registry and prepare to pull your hair out for the next several months. This is one of THE most obstinante, pinheaded parts of the federal government I've come across.
The procedure is here: http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/aircraft_certification/aircraft_registry/special_nnumbers/

Do you simply put it on the request for registration?
No you can't do it online. They want an actual piece of paper. They won't take a scan emailed to them. When I asked if there was any faster way to do it, they said I could fax it. WTF is different about PDF scan emailed to them versus faxed I have no idea.
As I said, this is THE most pinheaded department of the FAA (now that John Lynch has retired from AFS200) I've ever had the misfortune to deal with.
We discovered a much worse dept. "Customs" ,, these Agents give a new meaning to F---edup.
