Is there a place to do that on the FAA.Gov web page ?

I called them for mine 14 years ago.....

I do "think" there is a place on the website to reserve one now though..

I already have it reserved, but how do you get the FAA to apply it to your aircraft?

Do you simply put it on the request for registration?

I don't think the process has changed since I did mine in 2010. Only took 2 months from start to finish and I had the new registration in place by time the plane rolled out of the paint shop. You'll need to get the new airworthiness certificate done at your local FSDO once the new 8050-64 gets to you.

It wasn't that painful of a process. I've attached the sample document I sent to the FAA that needs to be signed in blood....I mean ink...

Cheers,
Brian

Isn't there a paper form that you mail in to advise the FAA that you applied the new number to the aircraft?

Oh yeah. I visited the FSDO for a revised airworthiness certificate so the FAA gets notified that way, too.

No you can't do it online. They want an actual piece of paper. They won't take a scan emailed to them. When I asked if there was any faster way to do it, they said I could fax it. WTF is different about PDF scan emailed to them versus faxed I have no idea.

As I said, this is THE most pinheaded department of the FAA (now that John Lynch has retired from AFS200) I've ever had the misfortune to deal with.

Have you seen any agency getting demonstrably smarter or more efficient in the last two decades?
