Everything Offends Me

Apple’s new rules, announced yesterday, say that developers such as BeamItDown must make their products available through Apple’s own store, where Apple takes a 30 percent cut of revenues. The change will affect companies that make their content—everything from books to movies and videos to TV shows—available to owners of Apple devices.

That prices me out of the the Apple market. I planned to come up with an app that would allow users to place delivery orders using their mobile devices. Looks like Windows Mobile, Android and Blackberry users will be the only one that gets to do it now. I am NOT paying 30% of sales to Apple for doing nothing more than providing some users the ability to buy their device.

30 percent of gross income of sales utilized by the app?

or 30% of the income from selling the APP ITSELF online?

Edit after reading link: SHEEEIIIIT..... are they crazy??

Are you saying you can't make money with the 30% cut?

BTW, Apple's announcement doesn't prevent out-of-app purchases, but:

“All we require is that, if a publisher is making a subscription offer outside of the app, the same (or better) offer be made inside the app..."

Nick - You're not selling subscriptions, are ya?

I think that if this is really as bad as that particular blogger is making it sound like, that it won't last long. Apple's not that dumb. (Most of the time.)

Bah, I don't care about Apple app market. If Google screws Droid though, that's going to be bad.

LOL do you remember Scully's regime? Apple is as dumb as anyone else, and Jobs is about half-dead now. Once he's out completely, the whole thing will jump the handle.

LOL do you remember Scully's regime?

Yes, I remember the bad old days.
