Crap the nasa site only has static now, and we don't have flash 10 at work :-(

Makes you wonder if Nixon got a hold of the Apollo 11 tapes :D

and Neil just made his famous "1000 mile straight in final, ATITAPA" call

It's getting good. I wish I had been around to see the original.

You got a bunch of guys about to turn blue.

are any networks going to rebroadcast TV coverage of the first steps tonight??

Hah.. just a minute ago, the audio had Tranquility Base reporting that basically they had no clue where they were because they were too busy flying the module (with the alarms going off) to pay attention to landmarks on the surface.

Pilots indeed. :D

Why didn't they just read the name off of the water tower?

They got some sass from Mike Collins in the CMP

CMP: Do you have any idea whether they landed
or right of center line? Just a little bit long, is that all
we know?

Lol

"When In doubt, land long."
Mike Collins 7/20/1969

This is really exciting. Even though its not live, I have goosebumps.

i got a phone call right when they went go for PDI, I let it go to vmail so I would not miss the landing!!

Discovery channel was replaying some CBS broadcasts last night. Pretty exciting stuff - Walter Cronkite had Wally Schirra on with him and when the Eagle touched down you could hear Wally let out this big breath in relief.

That's cool. None of the networks, including the local PBS or CSPAN had any coverage. thankfully, NASA TV re-broadcast the first steps in real time with audio, all online.
