New to the forum. Recently I took a flight to the Bahamas. Have any of you guys flown internationally and filed the eAPIS? It is the biggest pain in the rear. Just wanted to see if you guys had any thoughts and any advice for next timeI fly down there.

Welcome to the board! Last time I flew to the Bahamas it was post-9/11, but pre eAPIS. Hoping to head down again this November. (Of course, I say that every year! :))

Welcome to PoA! Tell us a little about yourself and the trip you just took!

My days of flying a private airplane in or out of this country are over. I use to fly the Bahamas often but I'm not going to subject myself to this BS any longer.

Been there, done that.

I'd like to know what problems you encountered using eAPIS, and whether you did the eAPIS training course before you tried to use it.

There are some subtle issues like putting your actual departure airport in the remarks and listing the nearest one from the list of international airports as your "actual" departure. I remember reading about a few others like that which could easily trip someone up, at which point you might be subject to some rather large fines, not to mention a reception from folks with weapons drawn.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. Flew my E55 down there for some families I am pretty close to. Went through customs a total of 8 times. The reason was I had to pick three different families up from the states and transport them to free port, South Bimini, and Staniel Cay. I used the eAPIS tool to become familiar with the whole idea and process of the system and it helped a little. Went down there and knew it was just going to be a pain and it was. It was mainly my fault for being unprepared for the unevitable. eAPIS took the fun out of flying for me. Grant Prellwirz: I'm 19, A&P PP with multi add on, and just enrolled at Florida State
College for Professional Aeronautics and transferring to ERAU down the road. I enjoy golf, fishing, friends, and of course flying.
