Just curious if anyone has had issues with theirs. For the most part I have really enjoyed mine but not been totally happy. The mic gain has always been lower than I would have liked and now it sounds like the wire in the plugs is coming apart. I have only had them 2 or 3 years and am trying to decide if I want to buy another pair or switch to Clarity Aloft ones.

No problem w mine - I tend to treat them rather gently; leaving them in plane instead of wadded up in flight bag etc. I have tried a time or two to exit plane with them still on, which they've stood up to well.

Also, check your mic - had an acquaintance who was complaining of poor mic performance, only to find that underneath the foam cover her mic was turned away from her mouth.

We have had both and had to return both for service. We received good service from clarity aloft and excellent service from qt halo. The Halo I had was an old early version and when they couldn't get it working well they sent us a brand new one at no charge.
I prefer clarity aloft. my wife prefers qt halos.

I learned that lesson early on too. The only time I notice the mic gain problem is when I have a passenger with any other brand headset. To get the squelch where I can break through easily it causes their mic to key up frequently.

I have this EXACT same issue. Still love the Halos though.

No problems with my Halos... I got them to compare to my CA's. Love them both.

I leave the CA's in my RV and keep the Halo's at home so I can go straight to the club planes without stopping at my hangar. Saves a about 15 minutes.

Anyway, two really good products in my opinion.

I've been using Halos since 2010 with no problems. I did lose the little foam microphone cover once, but even trying to crawl out the right door with them on my head and plugged into the left side of the panel (more than once!) has not caused any problems.

I'm about to send mine in. After 2 years, the right speaker keeps going out and I have to move it around to get sound back. A wire has worked loose, I imagine. A buddy also got a pair with an inop mic.

I'd gladly take sending them in every two years for the comfort they offer.

Only problem is that the case they came in should have been a lot bigger. Mine seem to be somewhat 'misshaped' due to the small size of the case, so they don't sit as comfortably on my ears. They can probably be bent back into the 'original shape' again but I'd need another set to compare against to accomplish that.

I ordered one last year to have a headset just to keep in my Pitts. When I opened it I just laughed at how horrible the quality was. It looked like a 8 year old built it. Maybe he had some new help? It was so bad I never even tried it, I sent it back for a refund. My Clarity Aloft was 100 times the quality.

I don't use that case. If you want a better case, any small netbook sleeve will work better. I just toss mine in my flight bag in the headset compartment and it lives like that comfortably. No malformations or anything occur, and it's far easier to work with than the tiny little thing he sends with them.

I think my oldest QT Halo (of 3) is almost 10 years old. The newest is about 4. No problems with any of them. I did buy one that was defective, replaced immediately, They stay in an airplane and don't move much, I agree the case is inadequate, but I don't use them.

Sounds like I should give him a call about repairing mine. I could never go back to ear muffs so the only other options is the Clarity Aloft ones and I can't bring my self to spend the extra money on them.
