Mine stopped working yesterday.

I looked on their website and don't see just a bulb listed. Is it not replaceable? I'm not familiar with HID lights.

Pull it out.......I would not be surprised if it wasn't a D2S. But I doubt that's what it is. Usually it's the ballast or igniter that craps out.

WTF?

They boast a multi thousand hour life span, forget ordering one, I'd call them and have them send a new one out at their expense.

I looked in the logs and it was installed 11/09, 357 hours ago....

i thought about it for a bit and remembered that on Tuesday my mechanic came to my hangar and did some oil cooler hoses. I presume the lower cowl needed to be removed for this.

So, hoping the mechanic just forgot to plug the connector back in.

Yep... connector wasn't plugged in. Crisis averted!

I always ops check any component that I remove and reinstall or that is attached to any component that I remove and reinstall. It really helps to avert these sort of situations.

Good to hear

I'm planning on getting one of their lights for my 185s landing light, if yours burned out in 300hrs I would have had to rethink that one lol

I suggest getting one of the new LED landing lights. They are brighter than halogen, will last for thousands of hours, draw far less current, and don't need an STC. The one for my warrior was only $239. Just take the old GE bulb out and install the appropriate replacement and log it in your airframe book.

Maybe send that tip to my mechanic LOL...

While I was in there I found the #1 primer line broken at the fitting in the head. Glad someone's looking under the hood...

If you don't mind the additional cost, though (usually about double the LED), the HID lights are far brighter than the LEDs are.

I use LEDs for my taxi lights and HIDs for my landing lights.

Of course, both are far superior to the old halogen bulbs.

+1

HIDs are far brighter and put light out much further than LEDs, but yeah same deal, HID landing light, LED taxi and position lights lights.

darn electrons still haven't learned how to jump

Well, yes they have. The jump from the collector across the base to the emitter of every NPN transistor that was ever made, by the septillions every second. Just not very far.

Einstein said it; I believe it. So there.
