Don't know any personally, but you can call and check them out. Good luck.

Thanks, that's a big help.

Is she worth it? :blowingkisses:

I'm not sure, she traded her husband and kids, nice home, a few acres of land, for drugs about six or seven years ago. No one has heard from her in about four years. I got to wondering what happened to her, if she is even alive. Ive been checking hospitals, morgues, the state police for years, nothing, nada. I just would like to know what happened to her.

I lost my kids to my ex back in the 1970s. She moved them to Colorado and raised them from a bar stool. I always got glowing reports on how well they were doing in school and such and I always paid my alimony and child support on time. I had no clue about what was really going on.

When they were in their teens, my attorney called me and told me to stop payments, my kids were emancipated. I did, expecting the roof to cave in, nothing happened. Anyway, my daughter told me a few months before she walked out that until she was an adult, she had no clue that there was something wrong with snorting crystal meth. Her mother had her and her siblings hooked before their teens.

It's a sorry mess, but in those days, the court assumed the kids should be with their mother, not being raised by a Mexican housekeeper in my home.

Youngest daughter was killed in a car wreck a couple of years ago, son is an alcoholic, oldest daughter just disappeared. I'd like to know if she is even alive or not.

I've got two fantastic grandkids who are being raised properly, so some good did come out of it all.

This is one of those questions you probably wished you never asked, and I really don't know the best way to answer, other than the truth.

I guess I just could have said you betcha!

Na, I was hoping you would post some details so we could talk about it. Better to get it out in the open and deal with it. Call one of those guys in the yellow pages and give them a shot. Never too late to look, just don't set your expectation too high.

Maybe best to concentrate on raising them?

That is precisely what I have been doing. They are good kids who are lucky enough to have a truly great dad. He is a hard worker and it shows.

This is one of the things I am looking forward to with my airplane, flying up there to visit them all.

I'm pretty sure Tom Sisk (etsisk) is a private investigator in Chapel Hill, NC. Maybe he knows of a referral service or an association of legetimate (honest) PI's in the US that you could go to. A PM or e-mail to him might be a start. (Sorry if I'm mistaken on this)

Sad story John. Wow. There are some LEO's and ex LEO's on the board and someone else mentioned Tom (etisk). Maybe shoot him a PM.

John:

If you like, you can email me such info as you have (full name, date of birth, etc.), and I will try my limited-but-better-than-nothing lawyer resources. Do not use PoA instant message.

It would be easy to just never try; if I can help, I will.

Edit:

I echo Anthony's suggestion, too- Law Enforcement Officers tend to be pretty resourceful. They sorta have to be, y'know?

It's also a pretty common story. I think a family who has not been exposed to drugs in one way or another, is downright rare. My family was one of the ones that took a very hard hit, but many did, and is.

I doubt if I am the only member of this board who has such a story.

Just a side note, clinically, alcohol is also a drug.

John,

Sorry you're faced with this situation.

We performed extensive backgrounding for our investment banking transactions. I found that a number of retired FBI agents are loosely networked and are quite proficient at this work.

One of the PoA members has contacted me and is a retired police officer, now working as a PI. I have been feeding him information as I can find it. He has not given me permission to identify him to the board.

Is he fat, bald with a mustache, wears suit coats too small for him and never a tie?

Wait, I'm thinking of a TV series from the 70s! :)
