Greetings folks!

Yet another new guy intro on the site!

Mike Marra here from Carlisle, PA.

Have a nice old Cessna 150 and fly on weekends for $100 crab-cakes, pizza or with buddies in our flying club, the Keystone Flight.

Retired USAF, AC-130 Gunship guy...fly only for fun now.

Hope to learn from this site and make an occasional post to offer fun places to fly up around the PA, NJ, NY, OH, MD, DC, WV area...we have a good time out here.

Hey, another local... Welcome to PoA!

Thanks Eman1200 and GeorgeC!

I enjoy flying around PA and will be doing so THIS weekend.

All welcome to 71N, SUNBURY Aerodrome for a fly-in, cook-out! This weekend it is SOUP on the menu!

1100 to 1400L EST. This is one of the most scenic approaches you will ever do - trust me! (see below - very cool!)

See yinz there!

Mike

Welcome! Glad to have ya aboard!

Too bad I just dropped my plane off for mx, weather looks great this weekend. Have fun! Been to 08N?

Welcome to the zoo Michael! Don't feed the animals. :)

That has to be the most distinctive Cessna 150 I've ever seen. Very nice!
I learned to fly in 150s; got a soft spot for them.

Welcome aboard!! I’m based just north of you at KHZL. If your on fb there’s a nice east coast private pilots forum that is worth joining to get your finger on the pulse of local fly-ins.

Welcome from an old c130 loadmaster.

I haven’t been to Carlisle in decades. I recall the county courthouse had a civil war cannonball still lodged in an exterior corner.

Mike,

Beautiful C150!

Welcome to the forum. I spent time in Carlisle back in my Corvette days, always fun.

you need to meet up with us.....for lunch.

Welcome to POA
Nice Plane

Welcome! I’m over at LDJ and commonly fly out your way, but am still pretty new to flying in the area. Look forward to discovering new places to go!

George, (from above)

Yes, I really enjoy flying over to Keller Bros. Aerodrome - it is magnificent!

I landed there a few years ago to test drive a Ford...last year attended the first big fly-in...tremendous! Hope to go back. One of the FEW turf fields with FUEL available in these parts!

Hope to meet you one day...here are a few from the last time I was flying into Keller Bros. around here!

I'd love to get over to Linden one day to figure out how to get into NYC to go see the Intrepid Museum!

We fly up and down the Hudson for fun, but still have not broken the code for landing nearby and getting in - I am told there is a train...

Hope to meet up with you one day. If you ever want to get out into the country, come this way and we can do lunch!

Regards, Mike

Sounds great - how do we link-up with your group?

Our group is called
"THE KEYSTONE FLIGHT - An Eating Club with a Flying Problem"

We love flying for crab cakes, burgers, BBQ, pizza...you know, the four food groups.

Best Regards, Mike

Yep, the SCAR is still there but the cannon balls from 1863 are all preserved in museums...

The place where I work today, Carlisle Barracks, was once a British Fort and was taken in the American Revolution...it was once the "Western Edge" of the 13 Colonies!

The post was later BURNED during the American Civil War's Gettysburg Campaign by JEB Stuart....

Much later, Jim Thorpe, Olympiad, lived here at the school and played Eisenhower (yes, IKE) in football...

It is a small but historic town...I was just visiting our cemetery and we have combatants buried here from the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the American Civil War, the Indian Wars, the Spanish American War, WW I, WW II, Korea, Vietnam, Somalia and Iraq....three Medal of Honor Recipients....not bad for a small town. (Come visit, yinz!)

(Photos of the cemetery, to include the final resting place of Molly Pitcher, American Revolution, where she rests with 32 other Vets from that war)

Best Regards, Mike

Welcome from an old c130 loadmaster.

Rod, sometimes I do miss flying the old HERK!

Before I went to AC-130's, I flew out of Dyess AFB, TX (not hell, but you can see it from there)

I learned how to "assist" our workhorse loadmasters as we flew all over Europe during the Cold War and the Gulf War...

Here are a few from the Persian Gulf War...long time ago now...ancient history at 30 years ago.

Regards, Mike

Thank you Sir!

It is an original Cessna 150M...all stock.

Those are the ORIGINAL 1976-77 American Bicentennial Colors from Ce$$na....any of yunz old enough to remember the Bicentennial (just kidding, probably most of you).

When it had to be re-painted after 43 years, I changed....absolutely NOTHING. I want the colors to keep flying long after I have Flown West.

Thanks again for the warm welcome to this group...and I will take your advice to "not feed the animals." Too old for any drama anymore!

Best regards, Mike

Great to hear about another 150 pilot in the area! I fly my 150M out of KLNS (just bought it 2 months ago). You planning on making the trip to Clinton next year? I hope to make it.

SamiamPA,

Thanks for checking in! Great to have another 150 so close and CONGRATS on your NEW plane! Post a photo sometime!

Yes, we go to KLNS all the time for the restaurant (Fiorentino's) and the Pilot (now hobby) shop! There is another good restaurant at the theater across the street down by the Cirrus Dealership, too!

I have been to Clinton (08,09) before, but not recently....seems like my work "surge" period is at that same time! However, I do fly with many from that club here in the area and would be glad to intro you to them sometime! I am a LIFE MEMBER of the 150 Club...well worth it for the technical advice alone...

If you are not busy this weekend, try coming up to SUNBURY for the fly-in from 11-2 -- always a lot of fun! Looking forward to flying with you.

Best Regards, Mike

Hi MIke,

I have a serious Jones for some scrapple and shoefly pie... can ya help a braddah out?

Welcome aboard.. I learned at N57 just when the first Tomahawks were rolling of the line in Lock Haven.

Invite the non-FB PoA peasants sometime..

no doubt! I belong to DC Pilots on FB, but only ever see the fun pics posted after the meetups. How do I get on the list for meet-ups? Just like college - I never get invited to anything!

Scrapple yes (I make my own homemade), shoefly pie no, Lebanon bologna yes, whoopie pies yes, grandma utz kettle cooked chips yes

Had to look up "shoe fly" pie.

Looks like pecan pie without the pecans.

You never see John’s posts?

You never see John’s posts?

only the pics after the lunch runs. I ended up sitting at a picnic table next to John and some other folks from DC Pilots ( Bo and Mooney pilots) at CBE about a month ago and didn’t even know it until I saw the pics on DC Pilots on FB.

I don’t know why I don’t get the heads-up posts if there are any. Would be fun to meet up with folks from dc area or mid-Atlantic area.

Welcome Mike. I recognize your name from the many helpful reviews of airports/FBOs you’ve visited on Airnav over the years. We most certainly have crossed paths around the mid-Atlantic states.

If you are not busy this weekend, try coming up to SUNBURY for the fly-in from 11-2 -- always a lot of fun! Looking forward to flying with you.

I'm not too far away (Quakertown PA). Is the fly-in Saturday, Sunday or both days? Welcome to the board!!

Too bad the FB group is not public; those without an account cannot see it. The mailing list on groups.io is all but dead :(

Lebanon bologna

That there just pushed me over the edge... If only there was a WaWa with the Amaroso rolls, WaWa White American cheese, and Lebanon bologna near by... why there is... with an SR-71 but I am not type rated... :(
