Maybe I'll make this an annual post. Last year's post is here: https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/what-an-epic-trip.142010/. We just got back from our annual trip to the south. Our Comanche flew over 2,300 NM and kept us in the air for 19 hours over the last month. We landed in 7 different states, 5 of them for our first time. It certainly was much less cramped flying the Comanche this year, compared to the Cherokee last year lol.

I enjoy long cross country flights, glad you’re having fun . Keep it up.

How did the plane do? Any issues?

The plane did very well. Besides a breaker trip on full load during one after dark arrival, the plane did well and needed nothing. Did an oil change in Florida at 52 hours since last change and looked for metal and none were found. The mechanic was even surprised to see no carbon build up in the oil filter at all.

Very nice!! I’m terribly jealous. Looks like you had a great time, apart from the tornado. Give us Florida peeps some advance warning next time you come down and maybe we can arrange to meet somewhere for a $100 hamburger.

Now a request....

Please do all of us in the US a favor by not sharing this with your Canadian neighbors. Tell them the US is a rotten place and they should stay far away. Bonus points if you can convince them to be charitable and just send us the money they would have spent on a US vacation. ;)

apart from the earthquake

It was a tornado.

Half of the people here think that way anyways, the other half (including me) can’t be convinced of that and unfortunately you won’t get rid of us haha.

Oh yeah - fixed it.

If you could persuade your authorities to accept Basic Med, some of us might reciprocate.

Did you visit any of the aviation museums while you were in Florida? You weren’t too far from the USAF museum at Eglin nor from the USN museum at Pensacola.

I wish we could persuade our authorities to adopt a bunch of U.S. legislation around aviation. It is more restricted north of the border (but still 10x better than Europe) with the exception of clearing customs. Can't beat just having to call them to say we're back and be on our way lol.

Not yet. We come to the area every year to escape winter so I'll keep a few fun activities for future visits.
