Another Action Camera Mounting Question

Just curious. Is anyone mounting a GoPro or other action camera outside the airplane without a housing that protects the lens?

We do it regularly. Although, we do have a video of a belly-mounted camera that takes a rock right in the lens on landing.

All of mine use a Hero 8 with no additional protection. Mind you, we're talking a ~80 knot airplane....

Not a gopro, but I have many flights with a Contour with no protection other than the flat piece of glass covering the actual lens. But I never mounted it anywhere it was likely to get hit by anything.

I’m using a Drift Ghost X on my tail tie down, no protective case. Five hour battery with a recent addition of an eight hour battery.
