Hey all,
At Rough River, the topic of fall fly-ins came up and we are moving Gaston's from October to September or thereabouts. The goal is to make it a little more VFR friendly, farm friendly, dodge a couple other events, and yet not be roasted in the heat and humidity that Arkansas has on offer.
If you haven't been to Gaston's, it is a stretch 100 cabins between the White River and a runway. It is great for fishing, nature hiking, chilling and most cabins have kitchens and the restaurant is pretty good, so your dining is covered either way. Depending on who shows and with what, we do a mix of grilling, snacking and restaurants, but always the huge Sunday brunch in the restaurant.
It is not so great if you want to stay in your motor home or tent it but there is a state park a couple miles up the road, so not bad at all. The cancel policy annoys some but seems like a decent compromise - if you book it and gotta cancel for weather a few days out, find another weekend and come on down (up to a year later) or lose the deposit.
Hoping to see some of the regular and meet some new friends too. Pick a date and I will work on the signup sheet momentarily. Got any questions, drop them in the thread.
