WELL KNOWN NORTH CAROLINIAN AND ACTOR ANDY GRIFFITH HAS DIED AT HIS DARE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA HOME. HE WAS 86 YEARS OLD.

He was a good ol boy. Like John Wayne, he is from that part of American entertainment that became part of our culture, permanently. Like Aunt Bea and apple pie.

...and what it was, was football...

He was a year younger than my Mom that passed away 6-8-12. He certainly left a legacy of TV shows that will continue to be enjoyed for years to come. RIP.

I feel like a piece of America just died. :(

Andy was the dad everyone wanted to have.

Hey -- remember when dads were portrayed positively on TV? :nonod:

That bit still makes me laugh so hard my sides hurt.

One of the stories is reporting he made that bit up on the way to a venue where they had already seen his act, and he had to make something up "right quick".

A bit of Americana has passed.

RIP.

+1, when tv was just fun to watch and gave us a laugh.

Not only a laugh, but these programs often had good messages, things about raising kids right, how to treat other people, honesty, integrity, good male role models, etc.

Not so anymore.

Anybody know how many times Andy carried a gun on the show? I can only think of like 3 episodes.

He's one of the lucky one's who will never truely be dead. He's still out there influencing those in the next generation who find him on re-runs and late night TV.

But Barney had his back. And the green bullet in his shirt pocket! :D

Matlock for a calm, quiet weekend afternoon.

He was an icon.

God Bless Sherrif Taylor.

Many people do not know he received Grammy's for his Gospel records.
The angels have just added to their choir.

All men are portrayed as bumbling, sex starved morons with the IQ of my show size.

Which is why I have not watched any television other than the news in over ten years. Even the news has become so feminized I'm losing interest in that as well. For every twenty or thirty times the word "woman" in used, men is used once.

We have an entire generation of males that believe they are idiots, most act it and look it, they have learned to play the part that is expected of them. They honestly believe that woman are the true brains and leaders of our nation and businesses.

The feminization of America is almost complete.

My dad is from Sanford, NC and shares much of the same sociability, geniality, and other positive characteristics. His ringtone on my iPhone is the whistling theme from the Andy Griffith show.

It gave him a big smile when his shirt pocket dialed my me by accident and my phone started whistling that tune.

You obviously don't understand. It's impossible to be smarter when the other side is never wrong.
