Alton Bay - 2021

I’m pretty stoked. I have wanted to make this trip. Going to try to go out this weekend or Friday and practice some short field no brake landings with hopes of going next week.
Bout a 2 hour flight for me. Will need to grab some fuel somewhere for way back I think though.

Go over to LCI, and use the new self serve pump at Skybright. It is located just to the right of the dot used to show Skybright's location. It is brand new so it doesn't show up on any maps yet.

Sunday morning would've been a great day to go. No wind, low cloud layer but high enough. Want to head up there and do some XC skiing around the lake
 
Really need to hit that place up soon. I was doing round robins all around central Maine this past weekend and the radios were lit up with everyone swarming to the ice. Shame I couldn't find an excuse to divert there, at least not one that my 141 school would accept lol.
 
A pilot on the Sonex forum posted this note concerning Alton Bay (Via the New England FAA Safety Team):

A word of caution for those who like to fly low up the bay (possibly aka buzzing) on departure to the north. NH Fish & Game are not happy and are taking N numbers. Looking to bust pilots who could be found in violation of State Statue 207:57 for harassment of fisherman. They are passing same N Numbers to the FAA and asking them to consider actions under FAR 91.119 - Minimum Safe Altitude.

207:57 talks about purposely impeding someone from hunting or fishing. I don't think the intent of buzzers are to do that, but as always, its never a good idea to buzz people.

207:57 Harassment. –
I. No person shall purposely obstruct or impede the participation of any individual in the lawful activity of hunting, fishing or trapping. No person shall purposely obstruct or impede the participation of any individual in the lawful activity of hunting, fishing or trapping. No person shall purposely engage in an activity that will tend to disturb wild animals, with intent to prevent their lawful taking. No person shall use a drone or UAV with the intent to conduct video surveillance of private citizens who are lawfully hunting, fishing, or trapping without obtaining the written consent of the persons being surveilled prior to conducting the surveillance.

But 91.119 still applies.
 
Was looking for a Mooney to land on the ice, and maybe I missed one, but don't recall seeing one.
 
Looks like they closed yesterday due to standing water. The next few days are going to be warm, so I don't see it opening soon.
 
I was going to head up on Sunday, but it sounded like such a cluster**** on the radio there I just went sightseeing instead. There was surf that morning, and that takes priority over most things. By the time I was going to head up there, it sounded a little crazy.

I'll be surprised if we get another good weekend with the way the weather has been going up here for the past few years. Hope we do though.
