Airport name on CTAF

Nothing's as bad as the arrogant Kansas a-holes who insist that, when it's in their state, the Arkansas River is pronounced R-Kansas. Really?

We in Missouri aren't much better. Versailles is pronounced like it is spelled...(Ver-Sails)

Then there's Miami, OK (Miama) and Cairo, IL (K-Row)
I'm one of those arrogant a-holes :D

I still haven't found anyone that can explain how you get saw out of sas just by adding a couple of letters to the front of the word.

Was it named by the French?

The ones I have fun with are the two towns west of Denver: Knee-Dur-Land and BYOONA Vista. Of course, the locals always pronounced the name of our town Westminister (it does not have the second 'i' in it). I was willing to bend to their pronunciation until I heard one of them talking about Westminister Abbey in London. I drew the line there.

Of course, here in the Carolinas we have two towns named Beaufort. Neither one is pronounced the French way, though BOH-fert (North Carolina) is a lot better the BYOO-Fert
