Aircraft ownership rush to Exit door

The number of aircraft, Cessna listed on trade-a-plane is up and up a lot is this due to high bank loan rate, or people running for the Exit door.
 
I believe that there are more, but wouldn't increasing loan rates depress the number of purchases, but not increase the quantity for sale? How do higher interest rates increase the availability of existing aircraft, unless the owners are under adjustable rate loans? (not sure if that's common with aircraft loans)

More people might be wanting to sell...but I don't think it has anything to do with high loan rates. Now these planes might be sitting listed longer because of loan rates.

For one thing, fewer buyers increases the length of time it takes to sell an aircraft, which means that the number of aircraft for sale at any given time will increase, even if the rate of aircraft going on the market remains unchanged.
 
The real question is, what kind of airplane do I buy when the market bottoms out? Should I rent the hangar now?
I like your thinking Jim. I just had to delay a purchase, not to seek a better deal, but due to some other investments we have to make right now.

I'm hoping luck will cut my way and I'll find a good deal this summer when I'm buying.
 
Typical cyclicality of an economic environment. I don’t think any of us thought the market would stay inflated forever, so it shouldn’t be a huge surprise, but maybe it’s just a shock when it finally ‘gives’.

Both GA and airlines have *always* been highly cyclical. If you've been around aviation for 20+ years, you realize the cycles are inevitable.
 
There are 2 or 3 planes on TAP that I have been looking at for almost a year. They are not selling, but the price has not changed either. I guess it is a good thing that it will probably take me another year to be qualified enough to fly them...

Everything is for sale at the right price.
 
Some folks consider less flying in snow season ( preheat ?) ,hangar rent , another Annual coming up and maybe that AD? Plus hot market?

I don’t know. I do know it’s not on the market. Guy I know is wanting to get me to partner with him in it. First I told him that although it has the correct engine, it has half as many as I wanted. But it’s still on my mind.
 
Mine is pretty much sold, doing the prepurchase inspection tomorrow. For me it's two things, my salary isn't keeping up with inflation, indeed I'm pretty much being paid less now. Might have to switch ships, we'll see. The other is my eyesight is declining. It can be fixed, but it's going to be awhile before my insurance will pay for it and I certainly can't. So away goes the Mooney, and you'll not see me much here. I'm going to miss my Mooney more than I can say. Whoever said the day you sell your airplane is the happiest deserves to be discussed in terms I can't use here.

There seem to always be ads that are either, if someone pays me enough I will sell. Or, my wife says to sell it, so it is for sale, at a price no one will pay. :D

When my wife wanted me to start advertising the airplane, I told her I had put it up for sale. What I actually did was put a For Sale sign in the window. Inside the hangar.

Yep. With an added sprinkle of December crazy to capture Bonus Depreciation whenever that's in effect.

I'm getting blown up for prebuy requests, but it was nuttier this time last year. Planes are still changing hands for silly money though. I suspect this pricing is "new normal" unless inflation rages and pushes people out of the market, or 100LL gets banned, then it will be super amusing chaos. ...and I'll have a 100LL powered lawn ornament. :D

Did you say on your sign the wife is included in the sale.

I have had a few "significant others" that wanted me to sell the plane and stop flying, the airplane was getting way more attention than the "other" and they were jealous, they got traded in ...better to rent I think
