With the A350F on the horizon, a thought came to my mind. Why weren't there any P2F a350s in the past years?
Its not so much an issue with the composite per se but with the design of the composite structure in how you can "cut" the hole. However if the design structure permits you could technically swap out a pax fuselage panel for a cargo fuselage panel and get your cargo door. Now whether thats economically feasible no clue. I think if anyone is going to pursue a P2F conversion on A350, 787, etc. we'll see something start in the next couple years as it will probably take 5-7 years to get it approved due to the composite angle.I’ve heard it’s really difficult/expensive to cut holes in composite material for doors, etc
