Hello to all !!

I am not a pilot (I wish I was) I am a dog rescuer in Benton, Arkansas. We save dogs from kill shelters, vet them, and find them wonderful approved forever homes or rescues.

One of my fellow rescuers sent the above link to me and I thought this was so neat.

They do not have many pilots that participate in Arkansas, so I thought those of you that are dog lovers might be interested!!

To provide an example, I have 3 precious puppies who were dumped in my neighborhood. I found a rescue in Baltimore, MD, who found an adopter for one puppy, and a foster home for the other two! Yes, we check them out and make sure these puppies will be safe :)

To get them from AR to VA, we have 3 options.
A paid ground transport which will cost $415 for all three pups...
A volunteer transport where volunteers drive about 2 hours each from AR to VA, handing the pups off to the next driver (nightmare to get together)
Flying them on Delta, which is the option I chose, will cost $268 for all three pups.

So, if you have a trip planned to a particular area, perhaps you could interface with this group and help save a dog's life!!!

Thank you so much!

Hey Karen - welcome aboard!

You might want to send Cap'n Ron (Ron Levy) a PM as he is very involved with the same cause. In fact, I will be participating in a relay from West TN to New York in a couple weeks.

Welcome!

Karen,

I'm part of a group that arranges rescue flights for animals. Give our group a visit: www.animalrescueflights.org and we may be able to get a flight set up for you.

Wow! Y'all are awesome, thank you for the work that you all do for the rescue animals already !!

If someone did need your help, would I post on the 'hangar talk' forum? Or email you directly??

This is so great, again, thank you!!

Karen, I'm not sure how to arrange things with Ron's group, but the website for the group I'm involved with has instructions for how you can request a flight. We don't generally organize flights directly on here, although I know that Ron has occasionally asked in a pinch if anyone can do a flight when he's been unable to find someone to fill a leg.

Kevin, no problem. :)

Toss it up in Hanger Talk or Flight Following if you'd like. Otherwise, Ted is spot on.

Here's a thread that Ron put up. This might give you an idea or two.

I do this for the Australian Shepherd rescue group ARPH. Owning two and a half Aussies has something to do with that.
