Has anyone ever been involved with this air race? A friend in Denver who has a Citabria just called and asked me to fly with her in this one:

Looks like fun! I think I'll go.

Go for it Diana, you'll have a blast. Heck, you'll probably win.

I'm involved with the committee planning the start. It would be great to see you race, Diana.

One of the stops this year is KRUE Russellvile, AR
I just noticed that! Maybe we'll see you there! :)

It's hard to win anything in a Citabria, but hopefully it will be fun. :D Lance, did your mom ever get involved in the Powder Puff Derby?

Never been involved. Don't think I qualify. ;)
Sorry Kent, there are just some things you can never be good at. ;)

Looking forward to seeing you out there!

Marijke just called me about it tonight. I was really flattered that she asked me to fly with her. :)

A couple of years ago Shreveport was one of the overnight stops...I was in the tower to note the landing times and next morning in the tower to log the takeoffs...
A Great bunch of Ladies (a few who knew how to party)
You should do it Diana.

CarolT did one in 2003 I think. I met up with her at their final stop at Hampton Roads, VA (PVG).

I definitely think you should go!!!

Definitely a women's race. Zig zags all over the place to wind up about where it started. :D

I've thought about doing it and almost did, had it partially planed out that year... but it turned out to not be a good year for my co-pilot. Then I moved... then I ... then i never got around to do it agian.

Carolyn aka Razor has flown it, She's on the Babes board but comes here on occasion.

My advice... fly it, have fun, and let us know about it!!!! We love flying along with you!

And Razor was her co-pilot. The story I heard is that it looked like the won the race as they arrived first, go interviewed by the local media but then came in near the bottom of the finish with the handy cap they got on the aircraft and the fact that they picked up more weight at evey stop as the Babes came out and showered them in wine and duckies. ; )

It seems like a lot of fun even when you don't win.

Meeting new and dynamic people sure seems like another good reason to do it.

I kinda remember that she did that one year. I wish she'd post here again, I miss her.

You're a brave soul.

Showered with wine sounds good. :D But, not much room in that Citabria, darn it. :D

I'm already accustomed to not winning. ;) But, you're right, it should be fun no matter what. It's one more thing to add to the list of things I've always wanted to do and finally did. :)

Go for it. Winners depend heavily on handicap, so you'll have a good excuse if you don't get the checkered flag. And if you do, woohoo!

Somewhat of a X-post from the purple board:

I'm on the start committee and am in charge of inspections and impound. If anyone in the Denver area is interested in volunteering for this, we could use some help! It involves checking aircraft documents and logbooks. We are looking for A&Ps or current pilots. This would take place on June 19, 20 and 21 with the busy day being Saturday the 20th. We are excited about the race and hope we get many racers. We are also looking for sponsors or donations if anyone is interested.

Way to go Diana!! I can already see "POA" sponsor stickers on the side of your plane. ;-)
