I searched the site but couldn't find my exact question...

I took my AGI in October of 2013. I converted my "pass" into a certificate last week just before it expired. I also hold an expired CFI (exp 1996).

I have read the AGI currency reg, but my question is does the AGI come "pre loaded" with currency? It's an odd one... I would think yes *IF* I took the test within 12 months, but I don't even know that for sure. As it stands I haven't proven myself to anyone since I took the test in Oct of 2013. That said, it's odd getting a new certificate that isn't even current.

Thoughts?

Guess this one stumped the experts ?

Perhaps TMetzinger has not yet seen your question or deigned to respond.

Have you read 61.217?

Yes. Unfortunately it doesn't truly explain what I'm asking.

Either here or on the AOPA board, this was discussed. IIRC, the answer from the smart folks was that it did not pre-load currency.

I had a buddy CFI sign me off for currency.

...off to find the FAA letter that I think exists on this topic.
