Welcome to the joint. Not long ago there was a thread here from someone who was planning a trip there and wanted the scoop on Destin. You gonna be the go to Destin dude.

Larry, I just realized your plane was parked on the ramp with my ‘69 B23 Musketeer in Defuniak Springs a couple of weeks ago. I just bought mine and I was there to pick it up. You have a very nice looking mouse! Congratulations!

I saw your post on BAC where you picked yours up and flew it home. They do fly great. I had some avionics upgrades done and had the annual completed. I keep it at Destin (KDTS). One thing left to do is the landing gear donuts. Just got them in and its going to Columbus GA on Oct. 4th to have those done.

Yep, mine needs donuts, too. Did you get the South Africa ones? I bought a set from Gert and they’re sitting in a box in my hangar. I’m working on a list of squawks and I’ll try to get the donuts done at the same time as the other items. She will definitely need a new radio. I plan to have her painted, too, as the original paint is really showing the years. The interior is in surprisingly good condition.

For now, though, I’m just trying to fly her and get myself very comfortable in the plane, as well as decide what’s needed. I went up for an hour or so this morning before the clouds started to build.

I’ll sure be glad when we get out of this summer weather pattern and have a few clear days.
 
Got them from Gert also. For what planes are going for these days I think you got a hell of a deal!
I hear you about the weather. I took advantage of the past 10 days and put about 11 hours on mine.
Landings has taken a little while to nail down. They were a little flat. Put some weight back there in the cargo area
helped a lot. Need to add the 10lbs back at the tail.
When it cools off a little, I was going to make a trip down to Williston (X60) for lunch one Saturday. Maybe we can meet up?
 
Absolutely we can meet up at Williston! I love the Pyper Kub Cafe there. Great little airport.

Yeah, I’m very happy with the deal on my plane. Especially after looking at so many rough Pipers for twice the money. The seller, @zayerpaul , was a pleasure to work with and made everything easy. He went the extra mile and I’m very grateful for all his help.

Just lay them flat in the baggage compartment. Easy to take out one or both when they’re not needed.

My landings have been improving. It’s vital to nail the approach speed. I can’t get away with a couple of extra knots like with a Cherokee.

Welcome to POA and good to see you both posting on the Beech Aero Club. I flew a Sundowner for nine years, still miss her at times. I went looking for more speed and two doors, found a beautiful Commander 112A that was hands down nicer and better equipped then my plan of a Sierra purchase so I jumped ship.
