A few very courageous bureaucrats helped get Jews out of Nazi controlled territory, including Tatsuo Osako, of the Japanese Tourism Bureau. Neat story.

I am always inspired by the stories of those who quietly defied authority, sometimes at the risk of their lives, for the sake of righteousness.

It's ironic that the acts of Hitler, a man who exemplified evil incarnate if ever anyone did, inspired the best of human compassion and courage in so many others around the world. Stories like these need to be told if for no other reason than to kick a little more dirt on his memory, and shine a little more light upon the deeds of those who had the courage to resist evil and stand for what was right.

I guess it makes up a little for the rape of Nanking and the Bataan death march...

It's very disturbing that two completely different cultures produced leaders that could order their armies to commit unbelievable atrocities, and have the orders followed.

It's a painful and expensive lesson that the whole world should learn from and be vigilant about.
