A buddy and I are thinking of flying over to St Louis in January to catch a hockey game. Looking at options for transportation to and from downtown. StL has a Metrolink train that goes to Lambert but not to KSUS or KCPS across the river. I don't want to tangle with waiting at a bus stop at 11pm in January in East St. Louis... Could get an Uber after the game will be tricky and expensive given that they'll charge peak rates.

Maybe KSUS will let us use the club car for the evening?... hmmm, probably not.

Signature at Lambert charges $49 which includes the KSTL landing fee. Seems a workable option but I don't know how friendly they are to light GA. Will be flying in IFR so they have plenty of time to sequence us in behind the big boys.

Thoughts?

That is a relatively quiet bravo, easy in and easy out. FWIW, I go to a lot of Cardinals games and use CPS, and Uber or a cab. It's not that expensive and it's easy too.

Lately, I'd be a lot less worried about waiting for an Uber near the stadium after a game than using Metrolink late at night. Also, if the game goes too late, your ride goes away.

never have flown into Lambert but we pass thru in our motorhome and stay across the river at the Casino Queen RV Park. there is a metro station just outside the park that takes riders across the river with a stop at the Arch. I suspect this line travels farther than back and forth ferrying tourists. I've attached a link to the St. Louis Metro Rapid Transit which might help you find your way...even if you have to change trains. good luck.

Stl is easy in but the signature fees can be hefty. And the way the blues are playing not sure id invest in that trip

STL is almost a ghost town compared to the TWA years.
Easy in, easy out.

I’m surprised it’s not downgraded.

On that, we can agree! My last time into STL I was the only traffic on frequency on the way in, and only had one SWA 737 following me to the runway on the way out. I'm sure there may be busier times during a push, but even DSM is usually busier.

Back in the 80’s, I taught primary students out of KSTL. Even when it was ‘busy’, it wasn’t a problem . We had a flight club based at Midcoast back then.

Flew into the Denver area for an Avs game (and some other stuff). We just rented a car, but then again we were doing some additional driving anyways. If it’s a Friday or Saturday night will probably be cheaper than Uber. But price it out, see what works best.

Just do it. Totally worth it. I got over the Bravo phobia early on. Go rock it with the big boys. It’s so fun. And remember... some of them wish they were back flying a 172 for fun.

Worked on my private at Lambert in '77...it was a trip taxiing behind L-1011s in my little 150 :)

I fly into KMCI quite a bit so I'm not afraid of Bravos (it's like landing on a lit christmas tree), but I know some Bravos take themselves a little too seriously. Sounds like StL is not one of them. Might be kind of fun tho...especially given that my PAX has never been in a GA plane before. You get a whole new perspective when you're sitting up front.

Oh cool! Yeah, if with a PAX, they'll love it. I did a Grand Canyon tour in and out of McCarran for one of my employees. He loved it! He said it was awesome flying into that airport alongside all the commercial jets. Passengers dig it. My fam always loved flying into San Diego bravo.

STL is not. My last time in there I got to "buzz" the tower when they told me to make a tight right base to 29. I had to confirm that was what they really wanted. I was about 300 feet turning final right around the tower.
