747 blows 4 tires, aborts takeoff from LAX

I guess this will be all over the TV tonight.
 
"I was so terrified - I honestly thought we were all going to die" will be the main statement we hear from the hysterical.
 
Unsubstantiated guess: Pilot saw light on dashboard (who knows what it was) decided to abort and stood hard on the brakes. That will blow tires in a fully loaded 747. If true, then the news has the events backwards. Surprise, surprise.

If the anti skid is working properly, it should not blow tires. If they were loaded to cross the pond (LAX-Australia), my guess would be brake energy was high enough to melt fuse plugs in four of those tires. The explanation for all of the tires not deflating would be uneven distribution of braking energy. Just another theory.:dunno:
 
One more guess. Ran over FOD (a la Concorde) and chose to abort.
