I saw the powerball was up to $700 million so I figured it was worth picking up the winning ticket. I know the lottery is a tax on those with poor math skills, but that doesn't apply to me since I am sure I have the winning ticket. Oh and please go buy lots of tickets today and let's see if we can bump my winnings up to $750 million or so.

When is the drawing?

Edit: Geez I'm so lazy. I know I could have typed those same characters into google and already have the answer.

Do you think people play because they think that they have a good shot of winning?

I think most people realize that it's a very very longshot, but somebody has to win it, and it's random, so what's to say it can't be you, or better yet, ME.

let me know when it's 700 billion.

I have already mentally spent the money

You're way off base there mister. There's NO way I'm gonna split my winnings with you.

Damn, take the lump sum, take half of that and put it in tax free muni's, and it would pay you ~1M/month. Damn.

Of course, most people who win the lottery wind up broke, dead or both within the space of a few years. I've read the best way to survive winning the lottery is to move to someplace were no one knows you and no one knows from whence your money came.

I just looked into my crystal ball and bought the winning ticket. Sorry Don. I'll send you a few million though for the idea.

Yep. Chances of winning with a ticket: Nearly zero. Chances of winning without a ticket: Zero. Fun had thinking about what airplanes I'll spend *MY* $700 mil on: Priceless. (OK, not really, but worth two bucks.)

That right there is a damn fine idea. That'll buy gas for the airplanes that I'm gonna buy with the rest of the money. :D

I hear the FAA bought the winning ticket and is going to use it to pay for privatizing ATC.

Expect a petition form AOPA to hit your mailbox soon.

Cheers

I entered the work lotto pool because if it wins, I will be out of as job.
But now I get to daydream a bit.

if i spend 584,402,676$$$ to buy 292,201,338 tickets, am i guaranteed to be the winner of 700 million dollars????
seems like a fair investment...

No, you buy yourself 292,201,338 one in 292,202,338 chances of winning...big difference!

Laugh if you want, but some idiot with no math or money management skills is going to win it.

You'd be betting that nobody guesses the number right, otherwise you'd be splitting that multiple ways.

Redneck just knows he has the winning numbers so he buys three tickets with the same numbers...that's Redneck math.

Actually if you know for certain that you have the winning numbers, it makes sense to buy more tickets with those numbers just in case someone else picks those numbers as well. In the case of the redneck buying three tickets, he would win 3/4 of the prize rather than 1/2 if one other ticket matched as well. Of course, you really can't know for certain but if you do...

;)

I sure hope you don't get in front of me in line. Do you know how long it will take to print out your tickets?

I know the winning numbers thanks to a Russian hacker, bought ten tickets to keep most of it, spending it all on hookers and blow.

So, did Cajun win? Any other Mass folks on here win?

.....like they'd ever say.....Lol
