... until we get the Mooney back from maintenance :( and
... until wheels up for the 6Y9 fly-in :D
 
I'm planning on returning but I won't be flying the same airplane since I sold the 182 two weeks ago. Shopping for the next one now.
 
Doubtful. Planning for the Kentucky Dam, Oshkosh, and Petit-Jean (RV mountain). Maybe Gaston's again but the dates are close to Petit-Jean.

Then there's my nieces wedding to attend in Italy in September, and another niece and one nephew wedding in SoCal. [They aren't likely to be the same day]

I think the Ravioli travel calendar for 2018 is fully cooked.

Any twins go in and out of there? Runway condition the same, better or worse than Gaston's?

Doc Chien has been in and out of there in his Seneca. The runway is about the same as Gaston’s as far as surface condition. A few more bumps in it.

Edit: also have seen an Apache there.

Thanks Clark. My 2018 is filling up but I'm going to try to add this one if I can.
 
Just watched the video link above.... @SixPapaCharlie is hilarious. Had to show my wife who is from Michigan (the lower part, not the spilled blob up top). I am actually off that weekend, so would be fun to try to get there.
 
Looks like 529 miles if I don't overfly the lake with a 71 year old motor. Should be fine.
 
Hoping to make this year my first visit. For the past 24 years, I've worked Labor Day weekend...but through a turn of events, I have the weekend off until Monday. I actually met Brad and his wife on North Fox a couple of years ago, and they invited me to 6Y9 then ( @Dizaster I don't know if you still remember, but you called my girlfriend for me to let her know I arrived on N Fox safely...thanks again).
Looking forward to finally taking them up on the invite!

As was mentioned, Bruce had his Seneca in there once... Several hundred pounds under gross.

It's an obstructed 2600-foot runway. Check thy performance charts! I still haven't even attempted it in the Mooney, whose performance charts put me at about 3000 feet to clear a 50-foot obstruction from a paved runway at just slightly warmer-than-ISA temps, with no published grass runway charts. On the west end, the trees start at about 400 feet from the runway end within the confines of the extended edge lines of the runway, 700 feet on the runway centerline, and if you can make a slight turn to follow the road, you get 1000 feet... But I'm not sure anyone told those trees to stop growing at 50 feet either.
 
And if landing there isn't in the cards in certain aircraft, LNL is a short hop away in my plane, or a scenic ride in the pickup. I will probably take the back way, and there might be chance of being murdered if you ask The Joneses.
 
LNL is great little airport. Walk to a diner for breakfast. The Gateway Lodge looks like it's still running. Long time ago, we used to have a hangar there. It's long gone now.

Usually the weather is good. Shelter is available in the old school. If it’s really bad the Fredericks have been known to go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure folks are warm and dry.

Very campable - but check the wx right before departure to determine which end of the 'campable wx scope' you'll be on. One year it was fairly warm in tents overnight and the next year we woke to frost on the wings (but it warmed up quickly once the sun cleared the trees). It's a gorgeous area, the Fredricks are amazing hosts, the town is very welcoming, and... man.. it's just awesome. I REALLY hope we can make it back up there again soon.

Happy to report that 6Y9 is ready to go! Current conditions as of yesterday: field was dry, cones are out, and runway was rolled.

Look forward to seeing some of you this summer, and it should go without saying that we are already making preparations for another great fly in. Rain or shine, hot or cold, we always seem to make it work and have grand ol' time.:)

And, it too is within easy walking distance of all the activities...across the highway from the post office.
