Hope to connect with a few PoA members this year. I’ll be there two or three days, not sure which ones yet.

Who else is going?

I'm already there. 2022 that is.

Oh, this is the sun n fun forum. I thought you were drinking too heavily. lol.

I’m gonna fly in at least one day and camp. Probably more.

I’ll be there. Not sure what days yet!

I'll be out of town.

Really, I'll be in Jefferson City doing a system startup for work.

Dude, 2022 started like... 77 or maybe 78 days ago... Where have you been... More importantly, how do I get an invite...

I'm likely to go for a day, not sure which one yet. If there's a get together, I'll aim for that day.

We'll be there-we're local so driving in. We volunteer in the Kitchen with EAA Chapter 175 so most likely I'll be around Apr 2-3, and 8-9 to get my "4 days" in to get my "free" weekly pass. My wife will more then likely end up volunteering the whole week but I'm not planning to take anytime off from work so will only be there on the weekends, the 8th being the only exception - I'm gonna get creative with my work schedule on that Friday.

I will be there from Wednesday until Saturday. I volunteer at the SnF Radio station and will be up "on the deck" a couple of hours per day interviewing whoever is on the schedule. So come on by!

If you don't know where the SnF Radio station is, get to the Sunset Grill and go East, it's right across the street with the wooden deck.

Who's going in 2022? Hopefully ALL of us unless you meant "West" to which my reply would be, hopefully NONE of us.

I just click new posts, I don't notice which forum its in.

We are headed down there Monday and leaving Thursday

I've canceled my plans to go (for medical reasons), so I will NOT be there. Hope you all have fun!

How thorough are the bag checks when going through security? I'm meeting someone at their camper and want to bring a bottle of hooch with me.

I've always wondered who goes to both SNF and OSH. I go to OSH as a photographer for EAA and I've had the invite to go to SNF. I live near Austin, TX, so it's actually a shorter flight to SNF than OSH, but I've never justified flying to both in the same year and so I choose OSH. I want to go to SNF some day, just not sure when.

Long way of saying... I won't be there this year!

I would like to go but the end of ski season always overlaps SNF. This year would have been the closest yet with the mountain closing on the last day of SNF.

See those of you who are going at Oshkosh this year. Last year I saw 6PC and 310 Pilot. This year I’ll be working some at the Seaplane Pilots Association Booth and maybe on the One Week Wonder if Sonex picks me as a worker.

Cheers

Are you flying up or driving? Where do you stay?

Driving. No desire to go thru the Fisk Arrival. Stopping in Chicagoland on the way to see a friend.

Staying in the Dorms. Got a email that they are apparently full up.

Cheers

I'm planning to drive down Thursday AM in my RV (camping kind, not the good kind ;) )
Will probably cut out sometime Saturday.

If you're instrument rated, you can fly in IFR and skip all of the VFR arrival shenanigans. I've done it this way the past 5 years and works like as advertised. The only potential hiccup is getting an arrival reservation slot. There's only 4 an hour so the prime times go fast.

Unlike Osh, there aren't any bag checks that I'm aware of.

You need to come down, spend a few extra days and you could probably book enough work to pay for the whole trip easily.

Only had one day to spare this year. Of course it was Thursday….

Thu was a great day to do my shopping. Small crowd, not too hot, etc., and the Beech Aero Club met for dinner that evening. Friday was a beautiful day, albeit windy. My wife, @SkyChaser , and @2-Bit Speed came along and we looked at shiny flying objects and watched the airshow. We linked up with @Salty in time to watch the T-birds.

No bag checks, no metal detectors, no ID required, etc. Pay your money, get an arm band, walk in. It's almost like living in a free country or something.
And on top of that...I actually feel safe when there. I would ride my bike from my camp site to the gate, lean the bike against the fence...no lock or anything...and zero worries. I don't think I'd be inclined to feel the same way at say for example Disney, where they have bag checks and metal detectors.....
I dropped my umbrella Thursday between showers. Back tracked...and found that some trustworthy aviator had found it and placed it so i could find it easier!

Every year I take the chairs out of the plane first thing in the morning, set them up on the flight line and come back around air show time and they are always there. Never have a problem, I have found a few people using them, but they nicely get up when I tell them they are mine, and I always tell them no problem, I don’t mind people using them when I’m not. There and Oshkosh are the only events I have ever been to that when you leave after the show the grass areas are spotless, never any trash laying around.
