1978 AA1C, I purchased it in 2019 in Georgia and I have taken it with me through moves and job changes in 2020 and 2021, now its in Las Vegas. It is an incredibly fun plane to fly, that is faster than most 2 seat trainers (120kts true @ 5000ft), but still well documented and cheap to insure. This is the most evolved version of the Yankee with a modified airfoil (found on AA-1A/B/Cs), larger tail (AA1C only) and 1600lb gross weight (AA1C only).

The most fun trainer you can get for the money, listed at $29,000.

Im new here. Just discovered this forum. Whats the burn rate? you mention extended tanks whats the total fuel. Thanks
 
I flight plan 8gph@110kts, but if you throttle it back it will run 7gph at slower speeds.

It carries 33 gallons with the extended range tanks.
 
Having flown the it to Vegas, I can honestly say, someone got a very nice little AA1 Yankee. The 150hp STC makes a world of difference.
 
Honestly, I think I underpriced it, I had a deposit 2 days after posting it on Barnstormers (I posted it there on 11/7), by the time the buyer looked at the plane, I had a backup purchaser and a backup to the backup.

The reason it took 2 days to get a deposit was that the backup buyer told me he was sending a deposit (and purchased a plane ticket), but never sent the actual deposit. In spite of telling me he would send the deposit on Sunday (and Monday), he never sent it, but was mad that I took the deposit from someone else.

I think I sold it for a reasonable price, but looking back, I likely could have sold it for an unreasonable price.
 
I sold mine for $17.5k about 2 years ago but it did not have the 150 STC. It had nice avionics though and paint and interior. I probably could have done better as well but maybe only by like a grand or two. I already had its replacement so I didnt want to get stuck with two planes.

You buying something else?
 
Not right now, I want to do some training that will be better suited for renting.

I plan to get my instrument, complex, high performance, glider and PPL-Helicopter before I consider buying again.

I sold it because I was concerned that focusing on training would result in me being one of those owners that kills a plane by letting it rot on the ramp.
