The elevator on an older 206 is smaller than the ones built after 1970 or so and I am wondering if that would pose a big problem especially for an inexperienced pilot?

No, it should feel about the same.

The larger horizontal tail surfaces (borrowed from the C-210G and applied to the U206C/P206C in 1968) made it easier to touch down tail-low with full flaps and forward CG.

Not a big problem at all; just be aware that in the older version it's a little harder to hold the nose off on landing.

Ok, thanks. A couple cases of water in the baggage compartment to adjust the CG might help too ...
