Some refer to today's desktop computer flight simulators as "games". This "Flight Simulator" from 1965 really was a game -- a board game, complete with dice, challenge cards and playing pieces.

The board is the WAC chart covering Southern California to central Arizona. There are four marked routes from SoCal to Phoenix, each with waypoints lettered 'A' to 'Z'. Players advance along the route by correctly answering aeronautical knowledge questions.

If I remember correctly, the game was written by a young Barry Schiff. I had one of these when they were new. It's fun to take a simulated flight back to the '60s.

As they said back when it was new COOL BEANS!

Even better, I suppose you could get a different sectional and use your own routes. If it asks about radials, etc, just substitute whatever is appropriate for your sectional/route.

Cheers

I have one of those around somewhere. Never played it.

Love LOVE that the airport I learned at is dead center in game board.

I consider myself an “Aviation Treasure from 1965”. :)

That is really cool!

That is really cool!
Are there typos in question G 3?
If so, spell-check back then works as well as it does now. :)

Wow... this is really cool

That is a really cool find, and in fantastic shape.

Do I sense a POA gathering to play a round?
