182 Prices Skyrocketing

One good looking bird.

I never thought I'd see the day that I could buy 2 new Gulfstreams Jets before I could by a Cessna 182...

Dang! Time to put mine on the market.
Yeah I said the same thing with my Arrow...and then I looked at the pricing environment of the upgrade airplane. It's not a good time to upgrade right now, in fact I think it's a terrible time for that.

If you're merely cashing out and exiting the avocation outright, sure. Otherwise, it's a fools errand to sell your airplane at a premium on this frothy market, because you're gonna give it back on the premium for the replacement airplane, unless you're willing to wait for the next recession to re-acquire an airplane. I rather keep flying, so I'm willing to leave resale money on the table right now.

Um, you realize the ad said One Hundred Fifteen MILLION Dollars, right?

I missed it too. I read it as $115,000.00, which didn't seem that out of line for a fairly fresh 182RG.

Well, the thread is out of date, now. I just looked, and the price has dropped a bit to 115,000.00. Guess he didn't get any takers at $115,000,000.00!

Yawn! Nothing new here... 182s and 177s are great airplanes but ridiculously overvalued in my opinion...

Lot of money for an airplane that handles like a pig, can't get out of it's own way, guzzles gas, and is just a so-so IFR platform. I hear some people like them.

182 simulator: Open your garage door; go to the back wall, sit down. That's the vis sim. Travel sim: Shove a pony into the back seat, drive onto an interstate; get in the right lane; stay there for five hours and don't pass anyone.

Handling sim: Take a fat chick to the park, push her on a swing.

I joke, truly. But they are pigs. No, sorry, goofing around, honest - can time the roll rate with a calendar. Ooops, that slipped out. You know why you shut down a 182 to fuel it? So it doesn't get ahead of the pump. Wait, that was wrong, just a terrible thing to say. . .I'm so sorry - for the poor pilots that have to fly 'em. . .

Hey, just joshing - not looking to troll, really. Effing pig-sickle.

I invoke the Four Guinness for Dinner dispensation allowed for an offensive post made under the influence, as written in the POA by-laws - it's in the performance section of the 182 POH, under "Why would anyone ever fly a POS like this". . . .

I laughed. But I can relate. I am still a student and only flew in a few planes. When I went plane shopping someone asked what I was looking for. I said not what Mike has (my buddy). He has a 172 skyhawk. I joke when we go flying that pigeons are passing us.
