152 down

Could be spin training. It seems like Mr Murphy is lurking behind every cloud. The phase of flight would be an indicator, weather, and all the usual particulars.

Damn. ... a friend of mine is doing helo training out at that school

As long as the plane was in the envelope, I'd have a hard time believing two CPLs can't get a Cessna 152 out of a spin.

They practically recover by themselves. I've had spins demonstrated in a 152. They're not that hairy of an ordeal.

Tough day for Utah. These two CFIs, and that airline captain that died in flight is from the Salt Lake area as well.

Two instructors in the cockpit is not always a good thing, wonder if they discussed who would be pilot in command in an emergency? May they rest in peace

That is an OLD AD...Surely that plane was repaired by now???:dunno:

Not necessarily:

The AD offers two options for compliance: installation of a rudder-stop modification kit or placarding the airplane. The placard must say, “Intentional spins and other acrobatic/aerobatic maneuvers prohibited per AD 2009-10-09.”

All of the C-152s at the FBO I rent from are placarded rather than repaired.

Yuck.......:(

Ps...

I bet that AD option changes now...

Idk about you but that's something that would worry me. Makes you wonder what other issues they aren't fixing...

Hard to believe, chief instructor retired AF, 6000 some hours including 1400 AF combat hours. And a 152 does him in?
