Approaching the end of the road

Of course we have AOPA who has already solved all these problems (ahem), both the age-related and location-based discrimination.

    Oxygen system fittings

My 2 cents: If I flew above 18K, where my life (and possibly others') depends on a reliable O2 supply, I would spend the extra few 100s to get a premade kit from a reliable source, like MountainHigh.

I find this extraordinary: the CEO is also the test pilot

That is the coolest CEO in aviation, in my opinion. "BETA’s founder, CEO, and test pilot Kyle Clark took the production version of its ALIA eCTOL up for its first flight, as seen in the video below."...

FAA will lay off all ARTCC meteorologists and use automated forecasting instead

I wonder what you all think of this move? https://www.flyingmag.com/weather/union-says-faa-to-drop-atc-center-weather-forecasters/

Important aspects of flying (outside of passing the checkride) that a pilot should learn for PP.

Very good points from both of you. Thank you.

Air Blue crash - captain with 25,000 hrs just as bad as some private pilots

sensationalist = a person who presents stories in a way that is intended to provoke public interest or excitement, at the expense of accuracy. Which part of the title is inaccurate?

    Dark Aero 1

Last YouTube video posted 6 months ago. Crazy that we thought the plane would fly in 2023.

Air Blue crash - captain with 25,000 hrs just as bad as some private pilots

I really dont know why it's asking you that. Never seen it before. Hopefully you don't have a virus that is trying to get your login.

Air Blue crash - captain with 25,000 hrs just as bad as some private pilots

The "clickbait artist" is one of the most thorough, objective, and evidence-based analyst of plane crashes.

Air Blue crash - captain with 25,000 hrs just as bad as some private pilots

That is weird. It's a free video on Youtube. Does this link work?

Air Blue crash - captain with 25,000 hrs just as bad as some private pilots

This reminds me of some CFITs by inexperienced PPs, but this guy had 25,000 hrs. It seems some people enter a different state of mind (like panic but quiet), where they simply cannot think.

    DOGE and the FAA

It's a generalization. As such, it is true most of the time, but not always. On the other hand: - racist cops are one of the main reasons we continue to have racial tensions, yet they cannot be fired. - the education system has failed this country, yet there is nothing we are doing about it. -...

    DOGE and the FAA

That is the current requirement. I am hoping they will get rid of both 3rd class medical and the need to have it before you can go to BM. Basically, they should just let pilots get a basic med. If a physician thinks a person should not fly, that's good enough.

    DOGE and the FAA

If the data showing that basic med and 3rd class medicals have the same accident rate are accurate, I hope they get rid of 3rd class for private pilots.

    Where should a beginner start???

FlightInsight videos on youtube are an incredible wealth of free knowledge. You are lucky to live in these times.

How much did poor training contribute to this accident?

Wow, that is very surprising. Thank you for sharing. So the reason we have so many fewer smokers is simply because of cigarette prices?

How much did poor training contribute to this accident?

I agree, but would they improve the effect? I think they would.

How much did poor training contribute to this accident?

I love that metaphor. And my point is: show people pictures of bad teeth and videos of Alzheimer's patients that had bad oral health. That is much more powerful than simply repeating "brush your teeth every day".
