Why are people still wearing masks?

Much comes down to the way the mind is wired. They likely will wear a mask for the rest of their life, fine by me. I’m not talking about the high end ‘designer’ masks some couples have. I’m talking about average masks that get fiddled with a lot. As long as everything is optional, have at it.

    Help

I’d go out tomorrow and get a job, almost any job, part time. After that, get lined up with a course or 3 at the community college. Hopefully you have living arrangements sorted out. Unless you have skeletons in the closest, the medical should follow. Good luck with everything, don’t let a...

    Growler Down

I was wondering also, yes I realize, one can misjudge a ridge or turn in VMC, but some lower cloud cover isn’t conducive to safe flight. Not sure what’s in the area with reporting, Yakima maybe? Of course, could be a little different towards some terrain.

KAVX - Catalina Island, twin-engine Beechcraft crash 5 dead

Word is that another aircraft had a mechanical issue at the airport. They had no ‘easy’ way to get out before nightfall. The pilot was planning to take the twin in, fly them out. His intentions seem in the right spot. In the interest of learning from the tragic event, I’m not familiar with...

Cleaning out shop, KT76A any value?

I think the market is very low for the old transponders.

A brand new plane still not better than a 50+ year old Cessna 182

New planes can be heavier also. I remember years ago comparing a new $300k Archer at Oshkosh to an older Cherokee 180. At the time the older 180 could be had around $40k or so. Most would like that ‘new plane smell’ no doubt.

Fatal Crash at First Flight, 9/28

The wimmins weighed 184 pounds each? They took off & flew, even if the weight & balance was a bit off, the plane was flyable. I think it was just the more common lapse in control, rather than major W&B issue.

Plane loaded with drugs makes emergency landing on Southern California highway

If flying drugs, maybe try 2:00 in the afternoon rather than 2:00 A.M., less suspicious. Don’t forget to properly fuel the plane.

Cirrus down at PVU 9/27 16:00Z

Early indications are a stall in the pattern after a go around. They may of pulled the chute very late, ended up in 8.5’ of water. Two on board.

    Flying with low/flat strut

No I haven’t, flown with a flat strut. There is kinda a potential way to get home through. I’ve never tried it myself. The idea is to hose clamp a piece of radiator hose(or similar) on the strut to get the spacing, to level things out. This is mostly with fixed gear airplanes. The strut of...

    Grief and anti-depressants

Besides the drug talk, have you looked into a support group? Not saying anything would be a panacea for the loss of your son.

    Please help out a dad

Sorry about the situation, seen it before. I don’t want to be accused of playing doctor, can’t help but wonder what we did in the 70’s? If it’s any consolation, you aren’t alone. I think it’s workable, just have the extra hoops to jump through.

    SLC transition question

Don’t know all the details, though I did fly out of South Valley airport to follow I-80 to the East, two years ago. South Valley airport is just a little South of SLC airport. I just remained clear of the B airspace, though they may accommodate you, not terribly busy. If weather allows, I-80...

Scott Bloomquist (unlicensed pilot) killed in small aircraft crash

I wonder what type of maneuver or flight profile he was attempting at the time? He did say ‘he liked to fly low’, ‘under the power lines’. Was there a witness? Crash pictures? Any serious medical issues??

    Purple Marten Housing

I have birdhouses up, various types. I agree, doubt purple martins would make a noticeable dent in the mosquito numbers. In my hierarchy, blue birds are top, then tree swallows, chickadees and wrens. House type, hole size, and location is what one does to target. It’s best to use a metal pole...

    [NA] buying land

I promise to not move in on your idea, may I as what State? Or is it one of several? 20 acres of sagebrush would be cheap. The further away you look to buy, the less time you will likely visit. If you put much of any property/structures on the land, taxes and the worry of theft ramps up...
