    Airport Fees

You lucky guys ;-). In Switzerland there is no such thing as an airport with no fees. Landing fees on ANY airport are somewhere between 20 and 60 USD. Courtesy cars or drinks or anything alike doesn't exist at all.... That's one of the reasons why I like flying in the US. Rgds Stephan ... And...

    Niagara Falls

Hi I'm a PPL pilot based in Switzerland and I'll be coming to the States next week to do a 5 day round trip in the Northeast. One leg will take me to the Niagara Falls. I have of course taken a look at the restrictions as set out in 93.71 but since this seems to be quite a congested area...

    Check Out

Hi Everybody Thank you for your answers. At least it doesn't seem to be THAT clear after all. And when in doubt I will just go for the standard procedure. A foreign pilot carrying out strange procedures is probably all you need :wink2:. Rgds Stephan

    Check Out

Thanks everybody. That gives me the picture. Grant: Thanks for the information regarding WINGS. However, I'm actually not looking to extend my BFR-period. Although, to answer your question, I do fly in Switzerland on a regular (low-time) basis, approx. 50 hours a year, I feel it makes sense...

    Check Out

Hi folks I have a question, which must sound quite trivial for you, but since I'm a foreign pilot I'm not that familiar with some of the stuff which is obvious to you. Therefore my question: I was in the States last year to get my validation of my JAR-licence. One part of the validation...

What would you do - if you saw this happen?

I perfectly agree with sc freiburg. If the 152 would have seen that cub gets in problems he would have had the option to go around. As long as a go around is possible without any danger (and if -as in this case- the runway between the twpo planes is sufficient) I don't see a real danger. Whether...

    music adapter for two headsets?

Hi I'll be doing some cross-country flying in the states in July. For the longer legs I would love to have some music from my iphone on my headsets. The thing is, that I have two requirements that should be met: first, the music should autmatically fade away when ATC comes on and second, the...

    Basic question on weather info

Hi Since I'll be in the US next week I have one final question and I hope that you will be able to help: Apart from ASOS/AWOS, 1-800-wx-brief, flight following enroute, etc. (which are the main weather sources that I learned from the book), what are the more informal weather resources that you...

Hello Everybody Thanks for the hint regarding the charter agreement. In the meantime I have reviewed it, and indeed, under the agreement it is not admissible to land on grass strips. So no farm strip flying for me... Anyway, best regards Stephan
