I have tasted speed, and I like it

No astronaut here. M2.05 was my top on an FCF. Regularly 1.4 but anything over 1.5 was noteworthy

    Airline pilots question

Yep, for deployments especially it's one and done - and it's at home.

    Airline pilots question

That would last exactly one time for me; after that I'd be driving myself, taking a taxi or walking. No reason to put the family through that all the time. ugh

    Airline pilots question

Way too many variables to give one answer. Airline, living in base, seniority in seat, bidding strategy, airline manning, time of year, etc - all those will have massive effect on how that question is answered. At Delta, some of the narrow body guys have a lot of single day trips (717's...

    Airline pilots question

If he goes for an airline career he won't know if it was the right call till he retires. It's a fickle thing and timing is everything. I'm a fairly senior FO and I average <8 days of work per month; life is pretty good. I would be more senior as a narrow body captain but their schedule (even...

I have tasted speed, and I like it

It is truly relative! In my Bonanza going XC, if I see >200kts ground speed I get all happy. When I was going XC in the Eagle, if the gs dropped below 500kts I would complain "uh... we're never going to get there." Enjoy it when it makes you happy! :D

First Tailwheel flight + Back to Basics with POA Pilot

One more flight and the bug will have bitten you good... come on over to the dark side. (BTW, I'll be starting a T-6 school next year in the Boise area so if you want to see big heavy metal with all the bad tendencies.... come on up!)

    Idaho - Nampa Vs. Caldwell?

Good point by rockwood. Caldwell is the busier of the two because of the schools on field so expect long.... uh...... radio.....um.....correction.....uhhhh.....calls. And wide bomber patterns that they could never make it back to the runway from if an engine quit. The helo pattern is over the...

    Idaho - Nampa Vs. Caldwell?

There’s no FBO at Caldwell so it’s pretty laid back. Lots of transient parking. Nampa has only a few transient spots but a great restaurant on the field. Gas is usually cheaper at Caldwell. Let me know if I can help.

    Idaho - Nampa Vs. Caldwell?

Why not Homedale? I'm based at Caldwell, but Nampa is a good airport as well. What type of info are you looking for?

Yes, the right answer is always "Bonanza"

Congrats! Welcome to the cul... I mean club! ;)

20' long, 100mph drone fleet; weeks; over Langley, Norfolk Dec2023

At night, low altitude with unknown friendlies below... non-starter. Helicopters or many other platforms are a much better fit. This isn't a job for a fighter.

    Idaho is calling

As with everything in aviation.... it depends. Lots of info needed to know if it'll be a big issue. MSL? Slope? Obstacles? Prevailing winds? Surface condition? Can you see the entire runway on approach? How long is the runway? How much dog leg? How far down the runway does it...

    "Target for Today"

I've only flown the B-24 but some of the guys I fly it with have flown the 17. I have flown a few airshows with both. The 24 is slow but the 17 is oh my gosh, pull-over-to-the-shoulder-and-out-of-my-way-old-lady slow. The 24 could carry a lot more, a lot further and a lot faster. One huge...

"Make you cockerel crow" and other obsolete aviations terms

Anyone who was ever stationed in the UK knows that term and keeps it near and dear to their heart. I use it often. :D
