    Jeju Air, South Korea

Reporting is that there was a go-around before the ill-fated landing due to the gear not deploying. If the possible bird strike was prior to the belly landing,it was unrelated to the gear problem. Still doesn't explain why fuel wasn't burned off or dumped IF the plane was otherwise without...

    Jeju Air, South Korea

Obviously a lot of fuel still aboard. Why wasn't it dumped, or burned off? 23 confirmed dead (will certainly increase) out of 175 + 6 crew reported.

    DHL Fatal in Lithuania, 11/25

Does look like there was a brief, abrupt pitch-up right after it comes into frame- then the nose drops... Flight data recorder should tell the story, no?

    Zombie F-35 Mishap Report Out...

You can, I linked it above in #17. Natch all the classified systems data is redacted. Me, I'm not focused on "should" he have punched out. I question whether he "should" have been in the aircraft to begin with in the conditions that day. 32 hours TT in that aircraft- of which 6.4/6.4/9.1 hours...

    Zombie F-35 Mishap Report Out...

Interesting that the pilot "perceived" that the aircraft was not transitioning from STOVL to CTOL after missed approach, when analysis by LM confirmed that conversion was taking place and was completed post-ejection. Wonder how this transition affects how the aircraft responds to control inputs...

    Zombie F-35 Mishap Report Out...

I think we all wondered why a pilot would eject from a nine-figure fighter that was quite capable of flying. https://www.twz.com/air/final-conclusions-on-bizarre-crash-of-zombie-f-35b-that-flew-without-a-pilot-for-64-miles-released Report sez he shouldn't have punched out, pilot...

Passenger lands King Air in Bakersfield

Wasn't it a King Air some time ago with a similar story (I think there was a movie?) where the pilot died and the airplane was landed by his passenger? He wasn't a pilot IIRC but had flight experience for a PPL in the past.

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

From what I'm told, most do. My son got FAIP'd after his T-38 training with a bomber follow-on expected next year. Anything, but the B-52 he sez...

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

I get the red tape, but I think in this particular application it's an unfortunate roadblock. Simple, separate isolated system. It's only application is what we're referring to- and if it were to fail, the crew (and passengers) are no worse off than they'd have otherwise been if they didn't have...

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

I know JS about commercial jets... But for f**** sake, we have backup cameras as standard equipment on even cheap cars these days. No one has had the thought of sticking cams on the wingtips and nose gear of these airliners where the wingtips aren't visible from the cockpit? This is insanity.

Voepass Flight 2283, a large passenger plane, crashes in Vinhedo, Brazil

Interesting. Just watched a vid from Mentour Pilot on Saudia Flight 163, where over 300 souls burned to death on the tarmac- where likely most would have survived had the crew been competent. The CA, FO, and FE were all low-time on the type as well as overall, with very questionable records...

    Check out those expressions

Never heard of such an animal. So what's the deal- takeoff under power, get to altitude, then kill the engine and fly it like a glider? Isn't it too heavy for that? Not seeing the point...

Voepass Flight 2283, a large passenger plane, crashes in Vinhedo, Brazil

I'm confused at to why Juan Browne stated that turboprops (generalization) are "stuck right smack dab in the middle of it" (icing conditions) at FL 170. The ATR-72-210 has a ceiling of FL 250. Why not stay above it, same as the passenger jet he compares it to?

Voepass Flight 2283, a large passenger plane, crashes in Vinhedo, Brazil

Not related to this, but interesting. Seems they barely escaped, notwithstanding what seems to have been ridiculous ADM by trying to "climb out" of severe icing conditions despite barely having enough lift to maintain level flight :oops...

Voepass Flight 2283, a large passenger plane, crashes in Vinhedo, Brazil

Maybe...but it could be just that. At this point, not seeing anything that would point to other than severe icing, failure of pilots to recognize or execute checklist in time, LOC, unrecoverable flat spin.

Voepass Flight 2283, a large passenger plane, crashes in Vinhedo, Brazil

Juan Browne showed the severe icing checklist for the aircraft and it used the word "ESCAPE". He said you don't ask for ATC clearance, you just do it.

Southwest flight 150agl 4 mile final into TPA

Most of the tech/IFR stuff above is over my head currently... That said, I just focus on the fact that they were miles from the runway- and 150 ft or so AGL. I mean, WTF- really?
